We don't have goalie scouts anymore and they are more likely done with Vehvilainen than Woll... At least if playing time is any indication. 2 games with the Marlies for VV vs. 6 for Woll in the same stretch of time. VV only played on the second half of back-to-backs, and now it is looking like Hutch is now being paired with Woll.

I imagine, barring a trade, the Marlies are running with Hutch and Woll next year with Scott recovering his form in the ECHL and then will determine where Kallgren fits in after a year with Frolunda.

Oh yeah, we can maybe loan Kallgren back to the SHL. Good point.

Goaltending is a fickle bitch. I put no stock into AZ unconditionally waiving him. He is still very young for a goaltender. The size and SHL numbers are very impressive to me. He cannot be much worse than Woll or Scott (who are both young as well). So if even 1 of those 3 guys show any signs of life next year I will consider it a win. We desperately need more chips on the table when it comes to that position. Easily the worst area in our organizational depth chart. Artur Aktyamov is likely our most promising Tendy and he is 3+ years away from even being considered for the Leafs as even a backup likely. If this kid can have a big year next year in the SHL as a true #1, you'd have to think he would be in consideration to come over to the NHL the following year as a backup or to the AHL as the #1. Long shot, but I fully understand the move and I approve

Yeah, Vehvi seems like a guy that will go back over. We could tender him to retain his rights, or just say whatever. My guess is 3 of them will rotate in the AHL, while 1 of them get loaned to another AHL team, or perhaps Scott starts in the ECHL?

Perhaps once the expansion draft is done, we flip Hutch somewhere.

Always possible Woll or Scott are used in a trade as well, I suppose.

I think Scott is in the ECHL next year no matter what. Growlers starter. If he dominates, then maybe we loan him to another AHL team somewhere. Mostly just needs to get back to playing after missing 2 years.

I doubt Hutchinson is moved. Likely will be the #3.

Not sure the Marlies are keeping 3 goalies next year, or at least keeping 3 goalies with SPC's next year. Most likely course of action is that VV is non-tendered and goes back to Finland. He was mostly acquired because he had waiver-exemption and could be easily moved around as goalie depth. He's not been given any kind of priority in terms of playing time and he hasn't been good since coming to North America.

Of course Woll may be moved in a trade but I think that only happens if we get fairly good value out of him.

Holding down the fort until Ben Gaudreau is ready to be our AHL starter

He has warts but definitely has upside. Unfortunately, I doubt he makes it to our 2nd round pick. He could go pretty high in the 2nd round and that would be after Wallstedt and Cossa are taken in the 1st round.

Tristan Lennox is probably the highest rated guy we can get with our 2nd round pick, and it comes as no surprise that we tried to sign him onto the Marlies this year.

Feels a little on the low odds side having been drafted by Arizona and even signed and auditioned then let go only a year ago. This is a little like signing an AHL goalie after his original team didn't qualify him. It isn't impossible that he makes a leap but it's unlikely. I hope he exceeds my expectations. I definitely endorse the strategy of overloading on the goalie projects. Less future 4th liner type of prospects, more higher value position prospects (goalies, RHD, centers).

Goalie is often voodoo for the age the prospect is ready for prime time.
Look no further than our own Jack Campbell
Health, maturity and opportunity need to align.

And Arizona is loaded for goalie prospects.

Lottery ticket...good luck kid.

I don't really love Lennox

I love his high end. I don't love his consistency.

I would not take Lennox with a 2nd round pick, even a very late one, but in terms of high end upside, that is probably what you are getting. Could also look at Vrbetic as well, but Lennox is probably better.

Hutch is only signed for next year as he meets the requirements for the expansion draft. Assuming Seattle doesn't take him, he will likely be traded somewhere if he wants the opportunity to play. He could also stick around as a mentor for the young guys.

Either the next Kevin Lankinen or the next Kasimir Kaskisuo. One or the other... or something in between. Or worse. Or better.

Dubas missed out on Arvid Soderblom and he signed with the Blackhawks ,so they signed this guy

Toronto is missing a lot of draft picks so they will focus on Free Agents to compensate. Not every 4th round draft pick makes it to the NHL and not every Free Agent makes it, but you can not win the lottery without a ticket

Chicago has nothing promising in their pipeline outside of Lankinen's little stretch and Commesso. Commesso is a fair bit away from becoming anything.

Leafs have Woll and Scott in that age range.
