Real good call by the ref there late with the double misconducts, took a situation that was going to be stupid for the last 90 seconds to normal. I'm a dinosaur, I love the fighting as much as anyone but that was the right move.

There's no reason to believe he wouldn't be really. 43 goals in his last 45 games, At this point I think you can safely say it's not just a hot streak, that's really his level of play!

Going back to last season even he had 41 in 52, but rememeber the 12 game stretch where he played with the wrist injury and could hardly shoot the puck? He had 3 goals during that span. He is almost a goal per game player when fully healthy.

In a weird way I'm kind of relieved Matthews just got it done tonight. Seemed like the team was trying to force it to him a bit. I think he'll score a bunch next game, just because the goals come from the team playing the way it does normally.

just came to post this actually, its one of those things that can get a player frustrated and really slow down his quest for 60. got it out of the way quick and on to the next goal.

Well done AM, congrats. WN with quite the game, wonderful to see. Solid, quality play by the team. But for me the highlight tonight were the fans. It's been a long time since I've heard that amount of noise raining down on the ice. Not just Matthews goal, but when Clifford stood up for Liljegren right after the 50 celebration. The team's got to take a boost from that moment and the crowds reaction, it's like a 15th club in the bag, GLG!
