Keon not as good as Matthews.... What a great subject...

There was a clip, on youtube, which doesn't appear to be there any more... Tant pis.

It showed Keon, stealing a puck, a la Matthews, and just bee lining it up the ice towards the opposite goal, I honestly cannot remember if he scored.

What I do remember, is seeing the Bure, Mogilny PLUS jet speed he did it....

In skates that if our hero, and I love him, a lot. If Auston put on Keon's skates, it would take him 15 to 30 minutes to stand up straight, forget skating.

All those guys, Keon, Mahovlich, Pulford, were genetic freaks that could could put on a pair of skates that had the support of a modern day slipper or a skateboard shoe at best.

So we had guys that looked normal, but had thighs, calves and feet that were quite honestly, out of this world.

So YES, you cannot compare anyone including rick vaive to the guys who had to skate in sandals.

Keon was Bure, Mogilny, Federov....

Did he score a lot, nah, he just shut you down and scored his 20 to 25.

I have a friend, Johan Kriek, who was number 7 in the world, same age as me. Won two Grand Slam tournaments.

We go back and forth on who actually is and was the best of all time, in tennis. Our answer will surprise everyone, but not John Mcenroes..

If I can ever find that clip of Keon going up the ice. Foooof. If he had modern skates, I don't think he would touch the ice.

Matthews is the best player of the last 30 years. I will give him that, hands down. And I love watching him.

Overall, as an old guy who was obsessed with this team since I was six?

This is the best team, happiest team, I have ever seen play, in Toronto.

Sure the sixties teams won, but they weren't happy at all, they were beaten into winning.

This team, is riding a really really cool wave and its because for ONCE, for ONCE, we have cool management.

But Keon skating? Foooof Ilya and Mogilny ESQUE. And for me, that and a great body check, is what gets me going.

And we're all stupid for calling him a 50 goal scorer, because he only had 41 in 52 games played and obviously nothing would suggest he can score 9 more in the remaining 32 games.

Wait, this happened? You're kidding. Did they forget he had 47 in 70 games the year before? The guy is technically a 3 time 50 goal scorer, he just didn't have the time to make it official. Heck, maybe even 60.

The stanley cup does not make one player better than the other, if it did then by that logic Chris Kunitz is better than Matthews, so are Draper, Marcus Kurger, Bryan Bickel etc.
