Jets learn a valuable lesson in humility last night. Even though we went down early in this contest and largely looked terrible in that first frame, I just had a gut feeling that the boys would bounce back in that one.
Happy to see Kallgren steady the ship after 3 saveable goals. He wasn't great by any means, but he was good enough to give us a chance. For as bad as the GA were, I thought he made a handful of really sharp saves that could have easily found their way into the back of the cage. Who knows how this game shakes out if Ehlers buries in that first period. Beautiful read and kick out by Erik there.
Felt like there was this overwhelming desire to get Matty his 50th that it almost took away from the game plan a bit. those 1st 2 PP's were so hard to watch. Everyone in the world knew where that puck was going, Mo passing up an open shot from 10 feet out to try and force feed Matthews the puck was easily the worst.
After that terrible 1st we were just the better team in every aspect. I am probably more happy that the Jets don't get those valuable points vs. us getting them. They should have known better not to give any team, let alone a top team in the NHL, bulletin board material from a win less than halfway through the season. Not suggesting the outcome would have been any different had they handled their December win with a bit more grace, but it certainly felt like a more important game than it needed to feel. After all this was a late March game between a non playoff team and a playoff team. The exact game we've had trouble getting into all season long.
Great win, keep it rolling fellas!
IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN BEATING THE JETS FELLAS????
