The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed forward Nicholas Abruzzese to a two-year, two-way contract extension, per a team announcement Monday morning. The deal’s average annual value is $775K, and PuckPedia confirms the full breakdown of his contract:

2023-24: $775K NHL salary, $175K minors salary
2024-25: $775K NHL salary, $250K minors salary, $350K guaranteed salary

This is Abruzzese’s second NHL contract after signing a two-year entry-level pact with the Leafs in March last year. The 24-year-old was a restricted free agent, Toronto’s last remaining unsigned player of the type.

Nice first year with the Marlies - 16 goals, 48 points in 69 games. Will need to take a strong step forward though to become a Leafs' regular but is viable depth on the left side.

Nice to get that last remaining RFA signing dealt with. League minimum for 2 years. Can't complain.
 
Took a bit longer but I guess the 2nd year was important to him. Decent at times good 1st year.

He'll be making enough money to live survive in the Toronto area even in the minors.

Quite good for the team to obtain two years on a two-way contract.
 
Part of the AHL team likely never an NHL player.

Him, Steeves, McMann, SDA (before he left for KHL) were the AHL depth who would be able to play some games as 4th liners. Not good enough to be in the NHL for more than 5-10 games

Disagree out of the players you listed I think Nick could become a full time nhler he’s got very good hockey sense. I agree with you on the other prospects.

Hopefully he proves to be better than the other guys and can be a kerfoot type player.

At 775K that would be a great steal
 
Needs to given a legit chance. Think him and McMann can be really effective given the chance
 
I see him being packaged up in a deal and ending up in Europe eventually. His skillset is passing/playmaking with heavy PP usage but his skating is ECHL level.

IMO McMann and Steeves could still be NHLers. It felt like McMann was constantly making good plays but couldn’t buy a goal. Funny after he had a goal called back in his first game.

I was poking fun at the fact so are Matthews and Willy but I keep being told that there is no rush for them to sign.

I know you were but it doesn’t make much sense in this instance as this guy needed to be signed where as the other two are already signed for next year. There is more urgency for players that are unsigned.
 
This guy is smart enough to play with very good talent. For his size he wasn’t shy with puck battles and has played both wings and centre. He’ll be jostling to be the first man up.

Hoping he can pick up a step, get a bit stronger, round out his game some and force his way into regular minutes.
 
He's a bit of a ghost out on the NHL ice to date, you hardly notice him. He's neither terrible nor remarkable. I remember Brad Boyes being a prospect like this. He did eventually establish himself in the league. The lesson from former prospects like Boyes, Verhaeghe, Marchment should be to stay patient with this sort of prospect especially since the organization isn't exactly teeming with prospects. I want to see him become more than a power play specialist.
