leafs need to move at TDL for a 3C, thats it

bring back every leafs and remove
Tkachuk, Bennet, rodrigues, luostarinen, boqvist, samoskevich and watch the result for fun...
We don’t really NEED to, when healthy I would run

Knies - Matthews - Nylander
Pacioretty - Tavares - Marner
McMann - Domi - Grebenkin
Lorentz - Kampf - Holmberg/Reaves

But if we were to add a 3C, Dickinson would be my target.

Domi is not a good option at C, i prefer to get him on wing to reduce his defensive issues...

and pwrsonally i want matthews nylander and marner split on 3 line, so i want a C who can play and bw a good complement to Marner or Nylander...

We don’t immediately need to make a trade. There is no real urgency. Make a good trade, not just any trade.

Also, no real need for this thread to be opened imo. It would be like me starting a new thread. “Leafs need to sign Mitch Marner now”.

When was the last time this team made a trade of significance?

They're too safe in their loser mentality of just making the playoffs. Treliving will continue tinkering around the edges as a result. So long as Shanahan remains in charge that's all Treliving will be allowed to do anyway.

Anybody hoping one of the core four or Rielly is moved are dreaming.

There's not gonna be a trade. Not one that will significantly improve this team's chances at winning a cup. History has a tendency to repeat itself and the best indicator of future behaviour is past behaviour.

So there's no reason to believe they'll do anything other than ride and die with what they've got.

It's what they've done every other year. Why would anything be different this season. A few injuries to mostly insignificant players doesn't change anything.

Keep winning in November every year is all that matters.
Good point, injuries to insignificant guys like, um, Matthews.

That's why I said the injuries were confined to MOSTLY insignificant players.

Sorry for any confusion. But to be honest I'm not sure how to make that sentence any clearer. I'll assume it's poor grammar on my part that obfuscated what should have been a clear point.

Couldn't possibly be you deliberately twisting what I said.

I think a more apt focus might be:

The Leafs need to make a trade with teams that are floundering in order to amplify the very positive developments made so far.

Lots to be had out there if we're smart about it.

Like what's Brian Dumolin doing in Anaheim? Get him and a retained salary over here for a prospect here and there.

See what San Jose wants for Jake Walman. See if ROR wants to play for his Cup winning coach again. Talk about the perfect fit.

But what we don't want to do is make a move to make a move because our injuries have piled as high as our place in the standings.

I think Mathieu Olivier is another popular name around here. Moving Reaves out and Olivier in feels like a need.

I don’t think you need to make a trade to address 7 guys out with injury because they’ll get healthy at some point and come back…

But the collection of the 18-20 forwards we do have that are NHL capable will need to be curated and designed better so we can compete and beat teams like Florida when it matters.

For me, I don’t think I want to go into the playoffs with Holmberg, Robertson in the program. Reaves is whatever and probably useless. Dewar isn’t all that impressive. Jarnkrok isn’t the most inspiring. Kampf can play a role but I’m open to someone else playing it. Pacioretty needs to stay healthy. So there’s at least 5 guys there that could disappear and be replaced.
