Honestly, this feels like a tough year to go all in when the goaltending is in flux, and the Atlantic is going out of its mind.

Maybe Chychrun. That for sure costs Nylander+ though. With Kase out, the scoring depth is looking thin.

I hear you, but how long until this team is a “contender”. It sucks we have an inferiority complex, but we can hang with other teams in the Atlantic for sure this year and years to come. As long as we have Matthews and Marner we are in a win now window

Nashville seemed to up their hostility level after they took a commanding lead. It wasn’t the most encouraging sign to see them throwing their weight around and trash talking around the crease with minimum push back.

Because in the playoffs, throwing your weight around with refs swallowing the whistles = built for the playoffs

It's why actual hockey takes a backseat to dead puck antics and obstruction

In terms of playoff readiness, the Carolina game was A+ and the Nashville Game was a D. I think one thing the Leafs need to figure out is did they feel like the game vs the Preds was not in their control and how did they lose it or never establish it in the first place. Can they have a push back against a bigger team that wants to play that Western Conference type of game?

What else is new in Boston. Somehow they get him cheap when he has zero history whatsoever with them, just like they do everyone else.
The difference is that Boston is willing to pay assets for the right pieces. Hall last year, now Lindholm. Proven, quality, NHL players that are still in their prime.

The problem with Leaf fans is that if we made the deal Boston did, Leaf fans would be in meltdown mode because we think every one of our picks / prospects is going to be a star, and will wind up being better than a proven, established player.

Weirdly, people will praise Boston for making the deal they did, but if Toronto paid a 1st round round pick, two 2nd round picks, Justin Holl and Topi Niemela for Lindholm, which is about as close I can get using Toronto assets, this board would absolutely meltdown.

We watch these other teams win and we wonder how they get there. Part of it is that they often mortgage their futures, for the right players, who they get multiple years of return out of.

I think we can hang with them. However I don't think selling a couple firsts for a rental is worth it, when the Atlantic is just this good. One of Florida/Tampa/Toronto will be gone in the first round.

Unfortunately, Toronto's easy playoff path was last year, and they squandered that.

Believe me, this is not a hot take. Nylander is very skilled, but especially in this trade deadline, can you imagine what we could get for him? I’ve never liked his soft, lack of compete level to his game.

Moving Nylander is not the type of trade you make at the deadline, unfortunately, but I really think we could address some real serious needs by trading him.

One way or another, we desperately need to bring in skilled players that bring physicality and intensity. You absolutely need that to be successful in the playoffs.

I don’t mind that style of play. What I find kind of frustrating is we have the unique, impossible to find talent at the top already, so if we built a more conventional supporting cast that was a little more like that we would be a better balanced team and more likely to thrive in different game conditions.

I don't like the loss but time to really think about what way you want to go Dubas.

It isn't a blowup scenario at all. Leafs are f***ing good people.

It's what can Campbell do. . If he's good in the stretch we go far I think.

You cant just change 2/3 of the team. Maybe it's easier for you to just cheer for another club.
I cheer for the team but not like you who must be satisfied losing every year in the first round. Every one i pointed out is exactly whats wrong with this team

Dermott cant handle strong forchrcking or front net battle

Holl soft and slow

Kerfoot for what he brings for 3.5 isnt worth it

Will elite when he wants to be shitty when he has his three months of going through the motions

Most fourth lines on other teams brings energy hits everything in sight and creates havoc on opposing dmen

What do you disagree with

Great theory except the fans don't run the team.

We don’t need Burke that’s for damn sure but the man won a Cup.

What has Dubas won?
He did, on the back of Pronger falling into his lap because his wife begged to leave Edmonton. Still cannot take the cup away from him though. Saw enough of him in Toronto to know I don't want someone like that building the team again.

I don’t know guys, I thought they played pretty good again, not a lot off the last two games, just sometimes you lose anyways. 7 game series against Nashville they win. Ready to go against whomever.. they were trash for a month and change there but to me it looks like the corner is turned. I don’t know who we play next, but mark my words well kill them.

Calgary Vancouver game off to a great start, tune in

Honestly man, it's not worth getting into the discussion of whether or not it was a great night for him.

It's the fact you fill almost every GDT with Tavares hate. But you do you I guess

I’m not exactly complaining about Tavares after he goes off and scores a hat trick in a 6-1 pasting of the Lightning, am I?
