I wish i had the energy to cross check this but I guarantee the vast majority of the sky is falling crowd right now because of one loss where we completely dominated, are the same people who've commented after every big win this season "That regular season means nothing. Only the playoffs matter".

That is very amusing to me. Basically all the poster I respect on this board have had the same reaction. It sucks to lose, but we played well and ran into a hot goalie so lets move on.

Factoring in buyout plus cost of new goalie you’re likely right back to where you started with a possible downgrade in net.

buyout would be 1/3 of his cap paid out throughout double of his left over term. That’s the basic and gets more complicated with bonus structure and stuff. Some contracts Toronto have handed out have almost no cap benefit due to bonuses when bought out. Exact caps and costs would be found on capfriendly website
On other words….the Leafs are stuck with Mrazek then. Don’t think he is tradable.

I’m also concerned that the team that so badly needed to learn the “killer instinct is playing .500 hockey during this road trip.
They let a 3 goal lead slip away. Almost let a 2 goal lead slip away and got beat by the worst team in the league.
It blows my mind how many excuses I’m hearing right now.
Ya, ya ,ya last night it was a hot goalie but wouldn’t you think 3 players making a combined almost 30 million dollars could only get 1 goal.
I’m sorry but I’m expecting higher standards from this team.

It blows your mind that people aren't freaking out about a team (that is top 5 in every category) losing its first game in regulation in over a calendar month?

Spent too much on the offense. Said player is not available.

Our top 4 forwards make 13 million dollars more per year than Mackinnon, Rantanen, Kadri and Landeskog... Maybe they'll pony up even 9-10 million of it and Toronto can afford a Makar, Pietrangelo, Hedman level defenseman.... :)

Go look at the reaction when those players actually signed those contracts. Especially MacKinnon's. He was coming of season of 63, 38, 52 points and got 7 x 6.3, people called him overpaid.

Same kind of thing that's happening with Nylander right now, we all yelled an screamed at how much he made when he signed, now we're calling it the best value contract on the team.

1-1-1 on a west swing with 3 more games on the road... all against good but beatable teams.

I'll wait until the 6 are over. Even then the Leafs haven't been great the last few but they're having a great season.

Every season they're going to go through this kind of crap.

We all know it's about the playoffs. Either way they're most likely playing Florida, Tampa, or Boston in the 1st and 2nd round if they get there.

They're going to have to go through 2 of those teams most likely.

I'm just hoping for them to stay consistent and hopefully for home Ice in at least the 1st round.

You sounds like someone who expects human beings to be perfect when no one is. Do you make mistakes?

Of course I make mistakes everyone does. However at some point this team has to stop doing the same things over and over again

They don’t need to “freak out but we should all be concerned with watching the same old things creeping back into the Leafs game.
The time for excuses for this group is over.
We can revisit this conversation at the end of the 6 game road trip. Hopefully it’s all corrected by then

So our backup is supposed to run a 935% and stop shots at a vezena level like Campbell is he?

A little bit of realism wouldn't go amiss
Technically he is not our backup. At 3.8 million he is supposed to be 1a or 1b

The team has played 5 games in the last thirty days, three of them in the last five days all on on the road with the first two against perennial cup contenders with a back to back for these last two. The goalie last night is in his fifth game ALL SEASON... 18 of the guys in the line up last night just had covid. Relax.

And once he gets his legs back under him he will be counted on and will more than likely perform to that expectation. Its literally what he has been his entire career.

The goals he let in can't go in either of them them

He doesn't need to put up 936.

But 880 doesn't cut it

I sure hope so. I wonder how long Keefe will let him sit before his next start

Tavares is a concern for me, PPG doesn't tell the whole story. The guy is getting slower and slower and that contract will be an absolute albatross in a couple years.

Watch some NHL hockey that's not the Leafs. They just had the best 25 game stretch in franchise history.

Tampa got blown out by Detroit not too long ago. Bostons been lit up several times this season. Losing a game to a hot goalie where you get nearly 50 shots on net happens over the course of an 82 game run. They've had a sub par three games or so where they still managed to steal some points.

"Bad habits" occur for every single team throughout the year. You're just hyper focused on one team.

Except for Campbell, Nylander, Mikheyev, Matthews, and Rielly (in that order), I have not been impressed with the Leafs recently.
