He’s probably like a Dan Vladar on Calgary (and Boston previously) who has had some surprisingly good outings but less than 20 games of NHL experience total. Factor in the total obscurity of the Coyotes and timezone he’s not really a guy anyone should reasonably know a lot about. But hey, anyone whose staying up on weeknights watching Arizona all the power to you.
Can't imagine anything less enjoyable.

The optics look terrible, but the Coyotes had no business winning that game last night.

Who knew their sub par goaltender was going to channel his inner Georges Vezina?

isn't it an issue when we turn every goaltender into Georges Vezina?

5 games against Columbus and 7 games against Montreal.

Look forward to another 1st round exit. Hey! Look at the Corsi! So dominant!! Just couldn't get one past [insert any f***ing goaltender].

Not going to comment on the past, but last night, we were robbed. I can't fault our shooters for that one.

Well only good teams can get goalied like that. Being able to dominate play is a good thing. Unfortunately, it just seems like they're like the old Hurricanes, where they do a ton of good things but just lack that extra bit of talent to be truly elite.

I'd say that Matthews and Nylander are their two players capable of taking over a game offensively, but that's just not enough. Especially when every playoff team in the Atlantic has an elite defensive center, an elite goalie, and an elite defenseman

right! It just made me too high or too low. Just gotta let it go. Only time I struggle with that is the playoffs hahaha. That Montreal series killed me. But this is a skilled good team

Playoffs makes sense though. Because every game is worth more.

So we lost in regular season game #35. Especially since we’ve won 23 of them.

Just $1M. Not good enough.

What about a buy out.

Factoring in buyout plus cost of new goalie you’re likely right back to where you started with a possible downgrade in net.

buyout would be 1/3 of his cap paid out throughout double of his left over term. That’s the basic and gets more complicated with bonus structure and stuff. Some contracts Toronto have handed out have almost no cap benefit due to bonuses when bought out. Exact caps and costs would be found on capfriendly website

He faced under 20 shots last night that has nothing to do with defense.

Make the save

It's not how many shots you face it's the quality of the chances

Nobody is going to stop shots consistently if they are having to go side to side and guys around the net sticks aren't tied up

That's why we have defenseman

Last night I died
Last night I cried
Last night the Leafs were exposed in the worst way
And then I died

Last night I cried
Because the Leafs died
The possession stats were sublime
But Toronto was left sucking on a lime
Last night I died

Last night 2 points were awarded to The Yotes
And then I died
I thought I already cried
Because the season seems to have taken a turn
The Leafs might burn
The Trade Deadline is coming
They better trade for something something
Last night I died
OK?

my condolences.

Vez-melka, as the Fantasy crowd calls him facetiously has a 3.17 GAA after last nights game and a .910 SV% and 4 career wins in 18 games. Mess, or anybody else is entitled to not know who the heck he is. He’s not the goalie equivalent of an indie band only the cool kids know about (yet).

I have NHL Centre Ice and actually watch tons of non Leaf games throughout the year, but I can't say watching the 32nd place Arizona Coyotes in full rebuild mode is anywhere on my must watch list. Can't say following Czechia league HC Kometa Brno is also on my to-do list, now or any time soon.

He hasn't even represented his country internationally at WC or other events recently unless you date back to the 2013 WJ-U18 tournament where he was the backup goalie and didn't play any games. So until the game started and I googled him, I honestly had no previous reference point or knowledge of this guy, who single-handily beat our Leafs last night.

Now had anyone asked me about last year's Arizona goalies Darcy Kuemper (traded to Colorado) , Adin Hill (traded to SJ) and Antti Raanta (signed UFA by Carolina) that would be a different story. :)

Figures I had Nylander +140 to score and he gets hacked to death on a breakaway and fans it.

This L is on me. My bad.

If Vejmelka’s claim to fame as an NHL goalie are the Winnipeg, Toronto and LA games, in a career that hasn’t hit the 20 game mark, I can give a free pass to anyone who doesn’t know who he is. In fact, if anyone has a strong opinion on him, they probably deserve a paycheque.

Weight that comment with the talent he has. Give Quinn, Burns this talent and they probably would have won multiple Cups. Generally speaking Keefe has a minor league approach to game strategy that gets picked apart in the playoffs..
Quinn and burns had HOF players all through the line up, what are you talking about?

He's never been fleet of foot.

I've heard others talk about how COVID has affected them longer term after recovery.
So let’s give him a break and realize it’s been a crappy handful of games in a season thag overall he’s been very very good in.

Leafs were.the better team last night, both in terms of eye test and stats. Watching the game it wasn't as if Matthews or Nylander we're just firing low quality shots at Arizona's goalie from the blueline, each guy had a number of very dangerous attempts between them.

What might make the outcome even more surprising is that Arizona was playing young Dmen Vladislav Kolyachonok (1 NHL game), Janis Moser (7 games), Dysin Mayo (26 games), & Victor Soderstrom (10 NHL games), in front of rookie goalie Vejmelka, and held the Leafs to only 1 goal and that by hometown Rocket Richard champ Auston Matthews.

Jack Campbell makes that save and probably the first goal too

Staying up to watch Arizona for a win seemed meh, feel even better now lol.

Is it May yet?

I’m also concerned that the team that so badly needed to learn the “killer instinct is playing .500 hockey during this road trip.
They let a 3 goal lead slip away. Almost let a 2 goal lead slip away and got beat by the worst team in the league.
It blows my mind how many excuses I’m hearing right now.
Ya, ya ,ya last night it was a hot goalie but wouldn’t you think 3 players making a combined almost 30 million dollars could only get 1 goal.
I’m sorry but I’m expecting higher standards from this team.
