Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose To Florida In OT

Final game is Boston and that's a potential loss. Tampa gets CBJ, again. That's a win. That leaves Tampa at 112. The Leafs should be at 111 going into the Boston game.

A Leafs OT-loss or win gives them the division. Need 112 points.

A loss puts them on the road in Game 1.

Anyone who says Florida deserved to win that game should have their heads examined. We should have scored at least one in the third. Bob was good and lucky.

But we do have some problems.

Matthews isn’t right yet.
Nylander too lackadaisical all night (looked horrible on the OT goal).
Holl is just pathetic, beyond words right now.
Tavares offering little to nothing aside from face offs.

I don’t. Caps have lost more at home than they’ve won this season.
 
Fun game! Tip your cap to the Panthers. The team with better class and finish won tonight.

Second multi-goal lead in a row blown against a fantastic Panthers squad tells me one thing. The Leafs can play with the Panthers for long periods of time, but the Cats depth, eventually, wins out!

Florida is now 15-1 since acquiring Giroux and Chariot at the deadline and they're doing it without, by far, their best D-Man, who will be back at some point in the playoffs.

The boys were good tonight, but I just don't think we're good enough. Not nearly clutch enough when it matters and not quite deep enough this year.

Fun game none-the-less!

Tavares should have been enjoying OT on the bench. Not that he was particularly awful and deserved to be skipped but in a track meet 3 on 3, we would have been better with Engvall and Mikheyev who are long bodied, speed skaters who can break up an attack and counter rush like on a PK. There's just no time for who deserves what.

Not you personally. Although I guess it kind of came across like that.

I don't get what the flaw was tonight? Leafs had a good bounce back game against the top team in the NHL and lost in the circus OT.

Played Fla 3 times. Killed them at home and lost twice in OT in their barn.

Split with Tampa with each team winning at home and havn't lost to Bos.

Yes let's pencil in a loss to what is probably the home team ever to make the playoffs we beat 7-3 two weeks ago
 
We really should have capatilized on our opportunity last year

So many good teams this year in the east. Just unreal
Florida is a good team, simple as that. You don't win 13 games by fluke and there's Tampa
Then there's ever green Crosby and Ovechkin
Rangers and Panarin /Shes.... A good emerging team

Gonna be tough I tell ya

But you blamed a guy that fell into the corner as lack of effort?? Same thing. Tavares gets blamed by the people that think he's slow and don't like him. Nylander gets blame by the people that say it was lack of effort because that's their go to for him. And only because they showed Nylander on camera right after the goal.

How? Tavares tripped him and he fell into the corner? Also Nylander was all over the place. Were you watvhing the same game?
 
Leafs played well. Well enough to win it even.

Both goalies were great. A few too many missed chances for Leafs.

Oh well. I'm not mad. They showed up and played great. Sometimes you just don't get the win

Last year was the easy path no doubt about it. Still can't believe they didn't get over the hump last year against that Montreal team. *Sigh
