Campbell looked ok, which is the most important thing.

Matthews didn't look like he had any apparent injury, though was a bit off in his timing which is to be expected.

Florida plays Tampa tomorrow.

But that game is a wash in terms of advantage. Hell if anything Florida is worse off because we took them to OT while Tampa coasted to a 6-2 win tonight. Meanwhile we’re tired on travel playing a rested Washington team that’s trying to get into playoff mode.

Sigh another loss. The last 10 games or so should be a tune up for the playoffs……not floundering around
The major concern for me is lack of killer instinct. They should've been up 5 or 6 to 2 easily in that game. Missed so many tap ins, wide open nets, breakaways, 2-1's.

That and Tavares and Nylander doing their usual play well for a few games, then play like garbage for 3-4, play good for 2. Same shit.

That's the way OTs go though. When they first started 3 on 3 it was just a free for all back and forth. 3 on 2 one way, 2 on 1 back the other. Then they learned to slow it down. Conserve energy and then strike.

Doesn't help that Matthews, Marner and Rielly didn't get a single damn stop till late in their shift. Just a lost cause from the opening faceoff. By the time they got a look they were inexplicably gassed from doing nothing.

Tavares’ speed really wasn’t the issue there. It’s willy giving up on the play and not even back checking that kills us. At least Tavares was hustling and providing some back pressure. Nylander is way faster and just peaced out
Nylander tripped when his skates got tied up with Tavares. There was no way he getting back in time. Brodie was on his own. It wasn't lack of effort on Nylander's part.

So what's the magic number to clinch home ice????

The most Tampa can get is 112. So I'm guess 113 for us? A win and a OTloss in the next 3 games does the job?. Or 2 losses for Tampa in their last 4 games?

I love your optimism. I just want to win a round haha. Which is sad, but I guess that is what nearly 20 years of disappointment does.

Well other than home ice, there is nothing for the team to really play for at this point. Home ice probably won't even make much of a difference for us, but if it keeps us hungry and motivated into the playoffs, then great.

This season is just too long. Start the playoffs already and let’s just get this over with.

We all know even if we won, we all would still be saying let’s see what they do in the postseason. Sucks to lose but the pointless analysis and theorizing about how any of this translates to the playoffs is becoming tiresome.

Tavares skates about as fast as my grandma and she's been dead for 20 years.

You can't blame this game on Campbell, he's been great lately, i don't know why captain molasses was out when 3 on 3 is a speed game.

Any average skater would have had a breakaway; instead Tavares got caught in the o-zone by a panther who was at least 5 feet away from him in the netural zone; and then you saw how "fast" he skated to get back.

Can't make this stuff up

Agreed, all they do is shit on Tavares. It’s the same crew that shat on Marner for half the year. They need a new person to hate on.
Only watched the 3rd and OT. JT didn’t have a great game but he was solid. The 3v3 was just horrible.
I do like Engvall playing on JT’s wing though and I want to see them play for a few more games bc it seemed like JT can feed off Engvall better than Willie. Willie is a bit fast for JT.

Nah, not many guys would have caught Montour there enough to get hit stick. Montour had a lot of separation from the onset. It just looked worse because Tavares isn't fast.
They’d have been able to take a penalty or obstruct him somehow

Tavares might be the only player who wouldn’t have been able to do anything at all

The "deserve-o-meter" thing again? like CBJ and Habs?

Really?
We had so many good chances in the third and all we needed was one bounce. Maybe the choice of the word deserved isn’t quite right, but we could’ve easily had that W. Good game though, we win that 50% or more of the time imo.
