Kind of glad Keefe said won't try Sandin and Reilly again. I think he was pretty much telling Dubas that.
Lilly and Reilly looks solid so far.
TJ and Holl looks good too.
Sandin and Leb looks good too.

I am not blaming Keefe for trying but when it is not working, need to stop.

You can blame both goaltending and the offense for a loss though. The reality is that outside of the CBJ series he was really, really bad in the playoffs for us. I remember some awful goals being let in from him at bad times.

Well that was an atrocious effort. Easily one of the worst games we’ve played all season, maybe THE worst.

We’ve had plenty of games where the goalie was to blame, but we lose this game badly with literally any goalie. Allowed the Sabres way too many ultra prime scoring chances, while generating so few ourselves. We got smoked.

Mrazek let in 5 goals on 2.7 expected goals. He did not make any tough saves at all. Everyone on the team except for the third line and third pairing was terrible, Mrazek included.

Tavares still has plenty of hockey left but he's very close to a point of diminishing returns relative to his cap hit. It's not that you think he's no good but holds us back from too much. I kind of liken him to being where Vinny Lecavalier was in his last year in Tampa in 2012-13. In Lecavalier's case he was coming off some injuries, limited to half a season and hovering a little under PPG but otherwise still a good player, the captain, franchise everything, and Yzerman bought him out because he was going to block Tampa from doing big things. In 12 months time, I think the Leafs will internally really want to be rid of the JT handcuffs.

In different words than mine, yup. He's not a bad player and he's clearly still productive, but his cap hit drastically limits the ceiling on other areas of the ice.

I love Keefe but the Sandin-Rielly pairing was such a poor idea. You likely found an ideal partner for Sandin in Lyubushkin and then decided nah, I'll just pair him with the exact opposite of an ideal partner.

If a young guy is playing in the top 4 on the right I think it needs to be Liljegren

He's better defensively and bigger than Sandin and he's playing on his natural side, playing on his offside really effects Sandins ability to move the puck which is his major strength

At one point it was 5 shots for Engvall, 5 for the d and about 7 for the rest of the team, why not elevate Engvall, he might help JT and Nylander, they aren't helping themselves and Kerfoot.....

On 2 of the goals against Rielly basically pulled up a chair and watched rather than tried to do anything.

Andersen finished 2020-21 with an .895 SV% and a 2.96 GAA. For comparisons, Mrazek has a .890 SV% and a 3.22 GAA. Mrazek is a tire fire this season but so was Andersen last year when he lost his job.

We may need a goalie upgrade coming up but the solution wasn't Andersen.

Goalies in not the issue. Funny how is was Fred Anderson who was the issue..he is in running for vezina...then you guys blamed campbell...then tonight here is another goalie who lost. It's not the goalies.....they are not good enough and there is a cap in place. Calgary is much better then Toronto....tons
