For context:

Florida is 0-3 against Seattle and Ottawa this season and Carolina is 1-4 against Seattle and Ottawa

Tampa's lost games against Ottawa and Buffalo this season as well.

Arizona has beaten Colorado and Vegas.

Bad teams beat good teams so it happens.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure some Stanley cup winners had a few clunkers against marginal competition, too. Also, Buffalo is likely not as bad as the standings show. They were actually decent for the first month.

Whole team deserves blame for that 5-1 embarrassment. I think with Mrazek though, it's a two step problem. He plays the game so sloppy that it doesn't inspire confidence: gets into these crazy butterflies on routine plays, flops around all over the ice and seems to make himself as small as possible so there's no margin for error when there's a weird bounce here and there. The team that plays in front of him clearly has no confidence in him, so it's a downward spiral. That's the good news. The bad news is our other goalie is kind of similar in strengths and weaknesses.

Carolina always seemed to play a quiet game in front of him in seasons and post seasons past. I agree that he’s been a bit too active back there and I’d love to see him use his large frame better.

They sucked tonight, goaltending & the second line have been issues for a while but they’re still getting results for the most part.

Reilly is not a number one dman/ Only good for his offense. defensively he sucks. cant clear the net and continually leaves his man to chase the puck/

winning and losing is part of the game sometimes it doesnt go your way BUT....

• Sabres killing our offense (only 1 goal)
• Us playing chicken in the D-zone
• down few goals and that was still not enough to light fire under the ass to start skating harder and trying

yea....not good enough.

teams are like sabres are the teams you try to get points to hope and catch tampa/florida and possbly avoid that match up in the 1st round and if you have to play them then at least you get home ice.

Keefe's coaching once again fails. He doesnt make in game adjustments; still doesn't know how to coach on the fly when pre-game plans fail.

Mrazek has had an over .900% season total only once. His numbers continue to plummet, it would be less concerning if he was an AHL goaltender making no money. However, he makes way too much money and plays statistically like a third stringer at best. I hated this signing in the off-season, I knew how it was going to turn out just based on how he is. Like a script, he’s playing even worse than I anticipated he would, didn’t think that would be possible.

Tavares’ regression continues. I’d be more understanding if it was just a small slump, but he’s their captain, makes $11 million a season, he’s paid to be a game changer and put up big time goals. The only time he’s been really good over the last few months was the previous game.

Our second line has been pretty mediocre for most of 2022.

Our defence continues to struggle, our goaltending is laughably bad, the only bright line that I see is our first line. They can’t score 5 goals every night to compensate for bad goaltending and mediocre defensive coverage. Very disappointed.

I’m seriously wondering if they will even win a game in the first round, I think they will struggle to do that. Can’t win games with defence and garbage goaltending, not against superior teams.

I agree on Mrazek and Tavares but your making it a bit more extreme then it needs to be. Mrazek sucks but he is more like a 2-2.5 million dollar league average back up goalie getting paid 3.8. Tavares is an 11 million dollar C that's worth about 8-9 million. We do need an upgrade on Mrazek though.

Defence was off tonight but overall probably going to be ok. Sandin has been beasting the last few games before tonight playing on his off side where he had one of the worst game of his career. Put him as a 3rd pair LD and 2nd PP guy and he is a great piece.

As of now we probably lose in 6 games in the first round.

I think trading for an elite top 3 D, a better goalie and top 6 forward would get us over the hump but that's a lot to do by the deadline and if we don't address at least 2 of those 3 I think we're going for a quick first round exit.

Idiot Ken Reid on SN central bringing up goaltending being an issue when the fact is the team scored one fookin goal tonight and the D left Petr out on his own way too often. Not suggesting mrazek is some kind of martyr but holy shit the entire team sucked.

It isn't just about tonight, this isn't a 1 time thing, goaltending has been an issue since the beginning of December

Goaltending is MASSIVE issue you just don't see it because on most nights the team wins despite the issues in net.

I am genuinely serious, either trade for someone like JT Miller and move up Robertson/Miky to the second line and have Nylander centre it or find a way to trade Tavares (NMC and all). That contract is going to look even worse very soon. He doesn't fit the identity of the team. Nylander actively has to slow down his pace to match his average skating and the one thing that made him so good in years past (puck control down low with impeccable handling) has all but dissipated. Production means naught at this juncture as it tied in to when Nylander was on a heater 20ish games ago. Kerfoot has no business on any serious team's second line either.
