I posted the following at the end of the GDT in response to someone suggesting that “good” teams don’t lose to “bad” teams.
Florida lost 6-2 to these sabres not long ago and lost to Columbus last week right after we did. Every team has stinkers
Tampa lost 5-1 to the ducks recently and two months ago, got shut out by the Sens & Sabres earlier on in the year.
Carolina lost to detroit last night, got beat by the Sens a few weeks ago, got a 7 spot put up on them vs Jersey and got shut out 6-0 by Columbus in mid January. They’ve also lost to the kraken, flyer and Sens again.
The Avs have been beat by Columbus twice, the Sens, Arizona and Dallas like three times who are middling at best.
I get it, it sucks living through in the moment and sucks to watch but bad teams beat good teams often enough in hockey you can’t sweat it

Yes good teams do get beat so what? if it wasnt for our first line scoring at an incredible pace we might be fighting for a playoff spot. we are not playing good hockey! Our team is flawed.
One line going. goaltending atrocious, second line 22 million doing absolutely nothing, Defense sucking. We are not winning in the playoffs like this.

I’ve to a few Leads games always getting tickets from third part sites like stubhub and such and always paying premium for those push seats.

I feel For the fans that paid to watch that tonight. That’s just throwing money away.

I posted in the pregame thread that these are the games the Leafs show up asleep and fall behind and not wake up in time.
Some things just never change with this team.

I never really seen Petr played until this season but is he always this aggressive in net? To me, he seems like he wants to catch every shot instead of just blocking/stopping the shot.
Also, his rebound control is quite bad.

idk but what you saw tonight is a fairly decent representation of how he's played a majority of the time this season

They’re pacing to smash a team record in points.

Mrazek May suck, but the D was trash tonight

we only scored one goal and our forward group was useless. We were dominated and generated nothing

horrible game overall

Everyone except for the third line and the Dermott-Lyubushkin pairing should be ashamed. Sandin and Rielly were both just horrendous. Tavares, Nylander and Kerfoot are just dysfunctional over the last 2 months and can't seem to outplay any matchup they have anymore. Mrazek again was putrid. None of our goalies can make a save on medium-high danger chances. Keefe needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Line 2 needs to be changed in a meaningful way and Simmonds/Spezza should be rotated in and out of the line-up. Neither are good this season but Simmonds in particular is just woeful at everything to do with hockey minus toughness. The amount of times he can't execute even simple plays with the puck is just inexcusable at this level. Bring Liljegren back next game, put Campbell back in and give Robertson a fair shake (top 9 minutes and second powerplay).

3 embarrassing games in the past 6. Montreal, Detroit, Buffalo. For those saying this is a cold streak or a one off, or every team has these, don’t kid yourself! It’s not.

especially when you factor the history of this team over the years, it’s habitual.

Chalk it up to another "big" game for the leafs, in this case, welcoming 18,000 fans back to the area and this is the effort they give you, same song and dance in the past three game 7's.

Everyone wants to add a d-man to this roster, but a good goaltender I think would be able to hide our issues on the back end, you're going to make mistakes in the game, but every single mistake this team makes seems like the puck is in the back of the net.

The 2nd LW hole in our roster is becoming a bit of an issue as well, I think there is enough talent at the deadline to be able to plug someone in there and drop everyone on the LW down a spot. Goaltending and a top six forward should be the real adds to this team, especially if they don't add a goaltender, it looks like we will be having to score our way out of problems.

Second line gives you nothing but a Nylander rush goal once every 2-3 weeks. I know the top line is en fuego, I know JT is probably cooked, I know Nylander looks lazy. I get all of that, but we can't go into the playoffs with two third lines and and a fourth line. You have to see if Mitch can some how carry the heavy burden of rejuvenating JT and you have to see if Nylander's nonchalant approach to the game doesn't hinder Matthews and Bunting too much.

Last playoff round our top line went silent and we got bounced in 7. If that happens again as the team is currently constructed we're getting swept. (Might get swept anyway if Campbell and Mrazek keep giving up 5 prices)

How is it that this team is capable of beating some of the best teams in the league and then lose embarassing games to the likes of the Sabres and Habs? :(

For context:

Florida is 0-3 against Seattle and Ottawa this season and Carolina is 1-4 against Seattle and Ottawa

Tampa's lost games against Ottawa and Buffalo this season as well.

Arizona has beaten Colorado and Vegas.

Bad teams beat good teams so it happens.

I’m pissed off that I stayed up to watch this. I can only imagine how the poor bastards who bought tickets to this feel.
 I sold this game and was waiting for the right time text the guy that bought them and offer him my tickets during March Break.
the right time never happened.

I agree and doubt I have to actually wait for the playoffs to know what is coming.
