I think that Willy has checked out with having Tavares as his centre, he needs faster players, and it's time to change that 2nd line up. It's been crap for a while.

If you are correct, then who better than Kerfoot and Mikheyev ? So find Tavares a top 6 grinding LWer than he can keep up with.

Bunts Matty Mitch
XXXX JT Kase
Mik Kerfoot Willie
Engvall Kampf Spezza/Simmonds

I fully agree. I have just mentally found peace. This team does not have the heart & soul to be a Cup winner. I have accepted that without major changes - this roster is not going anywhere. Nylander has 8 hits for the whole season ... So when I log in here from time to time ... I try to write positive stuff. There are just too many people who are already pointing out everything bad. But I am checked out. This team is winning only if somehow the whole league gets COVID and is disqualified except the Leafs.
Yeah I hear that. I'm not sure I'm at the 'acceptance' part of my 'Leaf grief'© yet but I'm getting there.

Yeah, that's where my thoughts were so I went over to Capfriendly to check out the Islanders, thinking maybe someone was headed to UFA that Tavares could work with and all I saw were horrible contracts and Clutterbuck.

Yeah, they have to change up the 2nd. line.

Make two lines out of these guys:
Tavares, Nylander, Kerfoot, Mikheyev, Kampf, Kase (when healthy), Engvall

Tavares went goalless in 12 games in Feb, and now starting March the same ...

Not sure why Keefe is not trying new 2nd line combos.

This year? There was a thread on how he’s done as an NHL goalie, a thread comparing him to career backup/B goalie Mrazek where someone went as far as saying Michael Hutchinson was better.

I was a troll for saying he’ll post career highs in Carolina so bookmark this one and apologize when you see him behind a better structured and far more disciplined defensive team in the playoffs.

I agree that fred is better than what we have and have stated that in the post you commented on. The facts are just like Naz, Fred will be remembered for the weak goals in big moments. He was replaced by the Ducks because they believed Gibby was the better option. In ever series since 2017 Fred had given up one soft goal in elimination games go back and watch and tell me that isn't the truth! Great structure does not prevent soft goals!

A Joseph or Belfour would be huge for this team, not that either carried them to a Cup, but they at least provided some hope.

Heck I even had more faith in Palmateer and Potvin in their time. They didn't even look too bad at Leafs last Alumni game in 2016.

Maybe some will remember him like that. I remember him as their MVP for 3 of the 5 years he was a Leaf. Nights like these one stand out for me:

Listen to the comments at the end. They’re more reflective of the attitude most of us had watching during this time.

And re; Gibson, yeah. He’s arguably the better goalie and was younger. They got a nice return for Freddy, that made sense for them. Leafs were fortunate to get him - goalies like this in their prime just don’t become available very often.

After the playoff softees I was ready for them to move on from Andersen but now it's looking like it may just have been better to have stuck with the 'Devil you know' .
What a mess.

Again, I liked Fred and believe that he is/was a top goalie but just like the Leafs need to get past the first round i believe Fred needs a win for most fans to look at him as more than a goalie that can't win big games. Soups is the same. Can these goalies mentally compete with the other top goalies in the NHL? I would say the same about Lehner in LV

Campbell should be better than he's showing. Should be.

Neither of them are looking like NHL goaltenders right now.

Kind of makes you question their coaching.

No idea. Goalies are Unicorns to me, never been able to figure them out.

JT to the 3rd line and introduce PK duties to his faceoff specialist role. He's a glorified PP specialist right now anyway. Maybe added PK duties will make him actually earn that contract

You don't have to hurt him to get him off his game, but here is an idea, let's be embarrassed about being pushed around and run out of your own building, in front if your first full crowd, by a terrible team, half way through the season when you are trying to win first place to help in the playoffs.
How many Stanley's gave you seen won.
It's a terrible idea.

Because Tavares will snap out of it eventually and he knows that. At Least Tavares is putting in the effort, I'm not sure why Nylander isn't getting near as much grief - because he scored a couple goals? That guy looks like he'd rather be doing something else.

And Fred aloud a very soft goal in game five
Yes he did , half way through the 3rd to make it 2 - 0 .

Had he’d stopped that bad angle shot we would have only lost by 1 and Leaf nation would have rejoiced by coming so close to a series victory !

Isn't that even more justification to break up the 2nd line with JT and WN?

The Leafs got shutout in game #1 and game #5 and almost game #3 except for the last 3 minutes with the goalie out.

How are you expecting the Leafs to win games in which they score Zero goals in, and then blame the goalie for the Loss?

If we shit on Willie enough do you think people will forget how pathetic Johnny has played ?

and just because every stride is a struggle doesn’t mean JT is working hard

and what option do the leafs have ??
break up the top line that was the hottest in the league before yesterday ?
break up the third line that has been incredible ?

are we putting nylander on the 4th line line ? maybe it isnt a bad idea .... 4th line of nylander, spazza and robertson should be able to generate some offense.
