My gut feeling is we don't blow this lead if Boosh played. Rielly-Brodie pairing has been bad for all of 2022 and then you also have Holl in there. That's all old news. Totally reverses how Boosh and Gio-Lil pairing changed the makeup over night.

As for the game itself, pretty fun game. Juggernauts traded 5-1 smashings. 3/4 can't complain. We blew the lead but Panthers are putting themselves down big fast two games in a row. Heading into the playoffs I'd rather be the team getting the leads first.

Nope. I've simply been negative about Toronto's ability to play with multi-goal leads all year and this was another example of why. They simply give up too much (between poor goaltending and poor team defensive structure) when they have these comfortable leads.

Those are the type focus / compete issues that lead to 3-1 series lead collapses (see last year). People are focused on the 3/4 points. I'm more concerned about the big picture and what these type of collapses lead to when the games really matter. Habits die hard.
They've actually been one of the very best teams in the league at closing out games. They gave one up tonight on a back to back against the best offensive team in the league who are comeback gods this season. Go be a panic merchant somewhere else.

It seems 80's hockey is alive again.

It was fun to watch but this nonsense will not fly come playoff time.
Leaf defense and goaltending shows it will collapse and I really don't expect different in the playoffs.
Also we still have a group that can check out at any time during a game so still little heart/grit with this team.

Not that Florida is a lot better but when their best dman returns it will help a lot and I would rather their 2 goalies to ours.

Tampa sucked last night and I doubt that happens come playoffs.

I expected a fun regular season team that scores a lot and loves pond hockey and will again be a lousy playoff team and nothing I have seen lately, even with wins over our other big 3,that changes my mind.

It may be down to cheering for Naz again this playoffs.

Leafs have made a statement for sure. 5-1 lead looks bad but really having that lead, and coming back to tie it 6-6 took character. I'm happy with it.
Considering the circumstances plus the 6th tying goal, I'm happy with it as well.

Momentum had swung their way (+ fatigue factor) but the top line quickly flipped the switch & team bared down with them.

Seriously? Head of their ass? They just threlashed Tanpa, Boston, Florida while beating Carolina and then lost on a penalty filled night in OT to one of the best teams in the league on a back to back.

Horrible way to lose but my goodness..
Yes seriously.

Can't lose a game when you're up 5-1.

There is no excuse for it.
When it was 5-3 and the goalie switch happened, the team should have done a complete reset, but didn't.

I am happier that the Leafs got the 6-6 goal, instead of just quitting after blowing a 5-1 lead. Says something about character, anyway.

Yep. Also says a lot about Florida’s mentality that they come all the way back from 5-1 and still want to trade chances at 6-5. I think that’s going to be their downfall. They are much less impressive than Colorado.

Anyone who thinks the Leafs sent a message to Tampa but this loss to Florida doesn't matter is experiencing peak cognitive dissonance.

Both are true. Huge message sent to Tampa and huge message received vs. Florida. A total choke job...and those are very hard to get over.
When was the last time Vasy gave up 6 in a playoff game? I am sure Tampa will have another gear in the playoffs. I'd rather play the Bruins and their bullshit tactics.

Are they from Edmonton by chance? There's a pretty big group of Oiler fans here that practically cream themselves when we lose. Hell a couple guys on their board celebrated Auston being a -1 on the Kucherov face-off goal last night lol.

Yeah there's this one fan, wetcoastorca I don't recall if he's an Oiler or Flames fan but he's incredibly antagonistic and then just one Panthers fan who does the typical rub it in sports fan thing. The rest on their board and main board sound a lot like the Leafs fans here. Saying *insert team is good* and they want their own team D to tighten up

Sucks but the lineup decisions this game turned out very bad. Florida owned our crease all game. Keefe most definitely sees things a bit differently after tonight.

Kallgren cost us the game TBH. You can’t give up a goal like #3. Everyone in the world knew the game was over at that point.

Keefe also needs to shoulder 90% of the blame for this one. Muzz and Holl just doesn’t work anymore. Certainly not against north south teams. How many goals against did Holl fail to tie his man up? It’s really not that hard to lift a stick.

Disappointing result after playing 30 mins of solid hockey. No real excuses for coughing up a 4 goal lead. It has to be 2 pts.

Shit happens, you Just have to move on. Even if we won in OT this would be a burn the tapes type of game.

We are still a good team, and we are playing good hockey. Just keep moving forward

I think they needed to rally and protect Campbell in that moment. Probably could have used a timeout.

Hopefully this will convince Keefe that Holl and Clifford should not be playing if it can be avoided.
Holl's blown coverage directly resulted in three goals.
Clifford taking stupid third period penalties has cost more than one game.

I'm done with the piece of shit known as Jack Campbell I can't cheer for that idiot, the rest of the team is great but goaltending is going to kill this team.

The rest of this team is awesome but the goaltending is going to ruin it.

the goaltending is going to waste incredible the incredible seasons of Marner and Matthews

and that's a real shame because if this team had actual goalies and not idiots and frauds they are good enough to win a cup.

they have to change literally almost every goalie in the system because none of it is good enough.

f*** Jack Campbell, f*** Peter Marazek, f*** Erik Kallgren, f*** Michael Hutchinson

f*** every single one of them

the ONLY guy I'd keep for now is Woll, the rest should be fired into the sun.

Also people are forgetting this was an elite team we went against, they are at the top of the leaderboard for a reason lol.

I keep saying it people sleep on Sasha and Huberdeau because we are just obsessed with Mcdavid and Matthews in the top half of the league.

Tavares was hooked right when he was about to tap it in during OT. That's why he screamed at the ref after.

Take a chill pill. The last time a NHL team win both Florida state games on a B2B was 3 years ago. It just doesn't happen when both Tampa and Florida are so damn good.
When was the last time you saw a contender blow a 5-1 lead, in a playoff type game? I'm not worried about losing to a fantastic team. I'm worried that we still see these meltdowns out of this bunch. Whether it's 3 or 4 goal lead in a game, or a 3-1 series collapse less thana year ago against Montreal, this team still shows inconsistent ability to finish what they've started.

That's not a good habit to head into a playoff series, festering beneath the surface.
