That was cheap, but it's the only goal that you can blame the goalie. It's upsetting to blow a 5-1 lead, the bright side is they got 3 out of 4 points in Florida and are undefeated in regulation in 6 games.

In a span of 2 days I go from thinking "we may actually be a serious threat" - to - Playoff nightmares.

It's hard to gage until we're in the thick of it and obviously easy to speculate about this team.

I'm as indecisive about this team as it gets. (I get it: b2b...top team, rookie goalie, etc etc) and I don't think that'll change....

The sad thing is, I don't see myself having "fun" watching in the playoffs cause I'm so wrapped up in the 'crumble potential"
-I say that while leaving fla on my way to Tex to complete this mini roadtrip, so I'm not even close questioning my loyalty...its just weird.

It’s weird so many are completely missing this. One side is trashing the team while missing that context, the other is celebrating while missing it.

Little reminder, we beat them 5-2 not to long ago. Do you think this would be the result if the Leafs were fresh? Not likely, our guys were completely gassed and Florida still needed some home cooking and OT.

To take a positive out of the loss. They actually got up 5-1 against the top team in the conference so that tells me they can dominate when they want. Yeah, that 3rd goal was bad and probably lead to the comeback.

They need to work on holding huge leads by not wanting to go all more offense to pad stats to simple hockey to keep a huge lead. Games like this are great for coaches who can reference it to keep the boys on their toes

Two goalies for each team, a shorty for each team, pp goals for each team. +30 shots for each team. Leafs get a point in overtime against the conference leader, the day after a win vs the defending cup champs. Line rush after line rush after line rush, spectacular save after spectacular save ... 3 out of 4 points in the FLA .... I should be happy but why do I feel like someone stole my lunch and kicked sand in my face?

It was a great first half of a game with the key turning point being that Toskalesk goal on Kallgren. I don’t know how anyone can think Holl wasn’t the worst defenceman on the ice.

Also I don’t think Tavares has ever done anything but look like he’s skating in slush in OT. Why not try speedsters like Engvall or Miky for at least a late shift. They’ve been scoring and are responsible defensively.

Leafs are horrible in OT. I know they played last night but still. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Rielly break up a 2 on 1 pass in my life.

Agreed. They may as well throw three forwards on the ice for the 5 minute gimmick.

Actually It was also the Panthers 3rd game in 4 nights last night too albeit they played Sat-Sun-Tue while Leafs were Sat-Mon-Tue. Probably explains why both teams were sloppy last night. And back when Leafs beat them 5-2, that was the Panthers 3rd game in 4 nights as well. Schedule affects everyone. The loss in an of itself is no big deal, blowing the big lead is.

I take 3/4 points in florida and run. The team was gassed at the end on the second half of a back-to-back, relief goalie playing the night before, etc.

We likely wouldn’t have caught florida in the standings anyway. The leafs goal is now to fend off tampa and Boston for the second seed in the Atlantic

I agree that these should be the D pairings for the next game. I never want to see Muzzin and Holl together again this season, unless they're sitting together in the press box as healthy scratches.

On Finnish board there is good discussion about Florida and about this game. This Panthers team resembles Tampa Bay of 2019-2020, it will be interesting to see how this playstyle translates to playoff hockey. They might have physical defense, but I don't think offensive brand translates optimally to low scoring games.

I wouldn't comment Campbell on this. Getting in middle of the game after playing last night and having night off and seeing his partner going out because of injury trouble. Knowing that if it's bad he will be playing every f***in game from here to end of the season.

Frustrating outcome, but there is lots of good things also. Not on this game and Holl should be the odd man out until proven otherwise. We have seven capable dman and that should mean concentration and competition. Holl didn't have neither.

I agree, not sure that the Fla style will translate to playoff success, maybe they can tighten it up but they seem to be run and gun. They would not be the worse matchup for the Leafs. Boston might be.

I don't know what the deal is but man Matthews is god awful defensively in OT, he's generally been so good defensively the last 2 years but once it turns to 3 on 3 he suddenly becomes lazy and cheats for offense. In position in front of Barkov and instead of just staying with his man he reaches for the pass with a no chance stick wave and Barkov is gone for an easy 2 on 1.

On a related note, Panthers have banked a lot of bonus points this year in extra time.

Yeah pretty much. Ugly game and even on a B2B you shouldn't piss away a 4 goal lead, but it wasn't all bad.

Gotta love the Leafs. When they lose, they really lean into it and make sure to lose in spectacular fashion. Oh well, playing the best team in the NHL on a back to back. I'll take the point.

JT and Holl particularly horrible nights. Goaltending not good again.

Muzzin's return had Keefe completely revert our defensive pairings that were finally looking good. No more Muzzin-Holl for f***'s sake.

Amazing though isn't it, 3 of 4 in Fla, it wasn't that long ago that the Fla trip was an Ofer.

And yep no more Muzzin, he didn't look comfortable with the speed, too long a layoff to come back into the lineup play full time minutes against that team.
