We had 7 powerplays as well. When was the last time your heard of a team getting 7 powrplay opportunities and blowing a 4 goal lead in the process and taking the loss? That has to be a rare feat of futility lol.

I just posted earlier how we get 3 or 4 powerplays at the most on a good night but then he were are with 7 lol

I'll also add that this probably wasn't the best game to break Muzzin back in. I wonder if we'll experiment with Muzzin-Bush as our shutdown pairing. Or maybe try Muzzin-Brodie in that role.

Trap it up then.

Just cause other teams blow leads doesnt mean the Leafs cant be criticised man.
Hard to do that in a back-to-back... And that is before you consider:

1) A 38-year old Giordano is playing.
2) Muzzin is playing for the first time in a month.
3) Florida is a fast and extremely skilled team who will get their chances no matter what.

We played well for the first half of the game and then the energy just fell off, especially after that weak goal given up against Gudas. That stuff is what killed us in the playoffs countless times, and it seemed to sap the energy out of us even though we had a 3 goal lead at the time. I don't think it is as much of an issue when we have more energy in our legs.

Not sure it is wise to have that many slow, physical defensemen in our lineup against a team like Florida though. May have been a better idea to keep Muzzin out of the lineup.

Let's not forget, tbey almost coughed up the game to Boston too. This HAS to be addressed by the coaching staff.

Leafs had the 5-1 lead in the second. At this point they needed to cut the ice in half and make them work for their space. Shutdown was needed, not pile-on. You csn still score when tightening up, but the opponents chances are far less so you're fine with a.2-1 game the rest of the way if possible.

The shorty definitely spelled trouble. I even typed "they smell blood" at some point.

Leafs will happily take the 3 points, but the bigger lesson need to be learned. Now. Playoffs are three weeks away. A champion calibre team isn't going to give the other teama sniff once they built a 3+ goal lead. Even if that team is a.well rested FLA team.

I really should avoid this place after a loss. The hot takes, bitching and moaning, the he's at fault/no he's at fault back and forth bs is so tiring. They were up, they were down, they tied it and then lost in OT after the ref didn't call a hook on a play that could have won us the game. Shit happens, good night.

Just put the bottle down and chill dude

I'm not joking I'm done with Jack Campbell and the rst of this shit bag crop of goalies

how many times do we have to watch the goaltending crumble before people realize it's a problem? they literally have the worst goaltending in the entire league the past 3 or 4 months but it's not costing them because the offense and the PP is elite so nobody says anything

They should just burn the NHL rulebook. Tell fans that NHL is rigged. It is actually WWE where winners are already determined prior to the games.

No wonder NHL never actually gets casual fans to stick around because of this shit show of reffing deciding games

NBA reffing is BRUTAL and they still have plenty of fans, but yeah it is very bad in the NHL.

Everyone knows Jack Campbell is mentally fragile. This game was potentially severely damaging to his mental state. All the confidence he gained vs. Tampa went buh bye tonight. I lobbied for him to go in the net before Kallgren got injured. Like Ron Burgundy once said, "I immediately regret this decision."

Whatever words you hear out of the Leafs won't ever take away what they learned tonight and that's that no lead is safe with them. Now, that could be used as a wake up call to keep the hammer down, or it could be like an albatross when they get up big the next time. If the greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior, I fear which way this will break for them.

An incredibly wild swing in emotion from Monday night to Tuesday. The thrill of victory and agony of defeat. Sports, man.

I thought Rielly was just as bad as Brodie as well.

And it is definitely time to move on from the Muzzin-Holl pairing.

Brodie moved back to the right side for the first time in awhile tonight after playing last night, and against two top teams.

I can understand the rust. And clearly he and Rielly were out of sync.

Also Muzzin clearly is going to have to get some games in to see if he actually can sharpen his game.

WIth 12 games left I think you have to give Muzzin-Holl a few more to see if they click again. I think Rielly-Brodie could find the groove again after some game action too.

Otherwise I try:

Rielly-Lyub
Gio-Lily
Muzzin-Brodie
Holl

I don't think you can break up Gio-Lily right now .. but you could try:

Rielly-Lyub
Gio-Brodie
Muzzin-Lily
Holl

These are just new pairings to experiment with to see if there's anything there.

I think Kerfoot has 44 as well. Maybe 43?

That puts him in the 40's. For 11mil a year. That's tough to take.

Not the best value, but I'd rather have him than not. But again, he scored the tying goal and if not for the hook would have scored the game winner, and I think folks would have been happy with him tonight.

Yeah I don't understand how they don't make the call when it could've led directly to a goal like that.

It's like we reached our powerplay limit so anything goes against us now.

Defensive guy and Puck mover. Usually a good formula. You don't want to have both of the same in most cases.

11m for a player who flubs an open net. For f***s sake john. We knew your skating would take a hit, but when the f*** did you turn into a grinder with no hands whatsoever.

Also thats the 3rd or 4th time matthews didnt change in OT and got blown the f*** by. Come on man. Although he can get all the passes lol.
you must be the ref in the game that was looking right at the missed hook

The result is completely fine. A point against the best team in the East, while you are tired and on a back to back? Great

But the way they got there is unacceptable. You cannot blow a f***ing 5-1 lead. Terrible way to end the Florida trip

Goaltending is a MAJOR issue here. Campbell is not going to win anything for this team. He just keeps getting worse and worse. Dubas will pay for his failure to acquire a goalie at the deadline.

Spezza played only 6:56 after being a healthy scratch and hasn't scored in quite a while.
