When was the last time Vasy gave up 6 in a playoff game? I am sure Tampa will have another gear in the playoffs. I'd rather play the Bruins and their bullshit tactics.
Me, too...but, if you have to face Tampa you LOVE that Matthews put a hatty on him in Tampa. We're going to go as Matthews and Mitch go. That game was big. So, was this one.

My point was, originally, is I knew we would have people rationalizing this loss who made a huge deal out of the win over Tampa, and that is not balanced. Both games were HUGE games and Leafs came up big in one and suffered a crushing defeat in another. Both say something about this team, not just one.

Yes seriously.

Can't lose a game when you're up 5-1.

There is no excuse for it.
When it was 5-3 and the goalie switch happened, the team should have done a complete reset, but didn't.

Teams blow leads all the time. Especially against teams that have everything going for them. Florida leads the NHL in impossible come from behind wins this year. Not sustainable, but it is what it is.

I hate that they lost, but it doesn't take away from the great run they have been on.

Yeah there's this one fan, wetcoastorca I don't recall if he's an Oiler or Flames fan but he's incredibly antagonistic and then just one Panthers fan who does the typical rub it in sports fan thing. The rest on their board and main board sound a lot like the Leafs fans here. Saying *insert team is good* and they want their own team D to tighten up
Yeah that sounds about right. That westcoastorca guy is an insignificant troll who likes to ignore everything good about us and dwell on things that go wrong.

It's funny how if that hook doesn't happen, everyone in this thread (except the perma-depressed) would be overjoyed. But the hook happens and half the folks freak out and dump on JT.

He gets dumped on because of his overwhelmingly bad 5v5 play where plays die on his stick and his line is consistently hemmed in.

I love the 3/4 points talk, completely ignoring them blowing a 4 goal lead, as if that regularly happens to the good teams in the NHL and as if blowing leads isn't still a major concern for this team.

Nothing to see here lol!
100% agree

Blowing 4 goal leads and being mentally fragile while expecting to go far in the playoffs. I'd love for someone to actually name a team that won the Stanley cup that year while blowing leads like that.

But but but it's okay we got 3/4 points. This fanbase is way too forgiving.

Lol

They've actually been one of the very best teams in the league at closing out games. They gave one up tonight on a back to back against the best offensive team in the league who are comeback gods this season. Go be a panic merchant somewhere else.
Nobody is panicking. Pointing out that this team struggles to play well with multi-goal leads is completely relevant. Boston made it uncomfortable the other night. Florida came back down 4 tonight and wound up with the win.

It's not insignificant. It's the same issues that lead to losing a series when you have a 3-1 lead.

I think blood was in the water after that Kallgren flub on the PP. Getting hurt after just contributes to the feeling like the circus tent was catching fire.
I thought he was hurt after that cross-check to the head by Marchment.

I really don't understand what the f*** the NHL has against Leafs goalies, but there seems to be an open season on Leafs goaltenders' heads recently.

Good Lord.

I'd still be dumping on Tavares for being utterly useless 5 on 5 for 11mil a year in all honesty.

Also Florida just had a 4-goal comeback on the weekend.

They'll get shut down in the playoffs.... it probably won't be the Leafs, but some team will. Maybe Boston ;)

Worth noting this is back to back starts Bobrovsky has been pulled.

"3/4 Points in Florida"

Should have been 4 when we have a 5-1 lead half way through the game.

"Florida just did this to New Jersey"

We're not New Jersey.

Ultimately it's a good time to be a Leaf fan because we go into these games expecting results. I'm grateful for that!

NHL reffing continues to be a joke. Photo evidence on Twitter of a massive hook on Tavares in OT. Pathetic.

Keefe shouldn't be coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Also mind numbing to me Mikheyev doesn’t play in OT. Seems like a no brainer, imagine him skating full blast at a forward skating backwards trying to play D.
Him and Engvall should be before Tavares and Nylander

Matthews Marner
Mikheyev Engvall
Kerfoot Nylander
Tavares

Crazy how Florida came back from two 4 goal deficits in a week and win 7-6 in OT in both. Has a team ever done twice in such a short time?

Surprised this isn't brought up at all. I want to see Nylander and Miky on in OT.

Typically the rotation is that Mikheyev/Kerfoot come out after JT/Nylander but Keefe wanted to go back to Matthews/Marner .. kind of don't blame him there.

Problem was JT got caught out for so long, Matthews' was out on the ice for awhile too and you could tell he was trying to save something in the tank for a rush. Barkov burnt him enough and made the pass on the GWG.
