Nonis couldn't get a generational talent to piss away. He is the worst Leafs GM of my lifetime. Dubas for all his faults has given us a damn good team. I know he's the new whipping boy because people can't handle anything in this day and age, but seriously we are not that far removed from NO hope of the playoffs at all.
C'mon, man. Besides winning nothing ever, his hand picked squad just lost to the three lowest teams in the league.

The leafs finished last season after October with 4 wins and 5 losses. They had their best regular season ever.

They finished this October at 4 wins and 6 losses. Its early.
Last year’s team looked like an apple while this year’s looks like an orange. Something is definitely wrong this season.

It's something like this (please correct if I'm wrong): if Matthews is not re-signed by this June, then he cannot be traded during the last year of his contract. He can then walk for free. So, have to install a new Leaf management crew asap to get a handle on this and manage it to the organization's best advantage before June.
Yup exactly. That’s why MLSE should be quietly canvassing NoW for shanahan’s replacement. So they have someone in place once the season ends for the leafs. Your right, it will have to be quick to give the new management atleast some time to,gauge matthews and trade if need be

As fun as he is to shit on, hes one guy who works nightly, generally does his job well and can play anywhere in the line up
This line always gets me, he’s been decent and yea he can technically play anywhere, but I was watching the Steve dangle video on LA and he said something I agree with.

Kerfoot can play anywhere, but is he particularly good anywhere? Like has he shown some degree of comfort or fitting in anywhere, he seems like a castaway wherever he plays

He’s not bad, just not good either

He also only got 14 minutes tonight, if there's someone who has a reason to complain it's him
That’s why I think he will leave at UFA, he is always the guy who gets demotion while others struggles and he just takes it and takes it.
Now he does go missing in games but what I don’t like is that when he plays well and he still gets the short end of the stick as long as the team is not winning.

Matthews NTC kicks in July 1,2023.

I dont expect a middle 6 player to be great anywhere, but hes been good on all 4 lines. He fit in well with Matthews/Marner at the end of last year and honestly id try him again there now with how that line looks. Outside that hes been good with Jarn and i like him with JT.

No he didn't. He inherited generational talents on ELCs and has managed to put us in cap hell and not progress past what we accomplished AMs rookie season.

WHat reality are you living in?

Fans cheering on perpetual failure is why we're here. This management group is a joke. They need to go before we can move forward.
its really hard to think of a general manager taking over such an envious position more so then what dubas inherited. Dubas inherited a team rich in assets, all picks in tact, kadri, c.brown, hyman, and making 4D chess move by acquiring Jared McCann then turning around and protecting Holl over McCann….

The reality that Dubas is miles better than Nonis.

The reality that Lou signed Marleau to a franchise crippling 3 year deal (when all the ELCs were coming up in 2).

The reality that Lou refuses to give prospects signing bonuses, which causes a chain reaction of players refusing to give hometown discounts when it comes to contract 2.

The reality that every team as it stands is in cap hell due to the lockdown and the salary cap going stagnant. If it didn't, the Leafs would be in a much better spot, but then again no one could predict Covid having the effect on society it did.

I'm living in a reality of paying attention to the little things that happened along the road and not taking the asy way out of blaming the person in charge without objectivity. That's for you to do apparently.

No but he should have benched Marner for the rest of the game especially after leaving the bench to have a temper tantrum

Yeah, I didn't like that at all. I can live with the mistake(s), but just man up and move on.

The elite talented players have the ability to to carry this team at Lear a round or two in the playoffs.

Marleau really had an effect on marner and matthews

on the contrary i think dubas had an effect on marner and matthews

under Lou/Babcock they competed pretty hard. Once Lou left under Dubas thte name on the back started having more meaning than the logo on the front

the professional attitude went out the door and the micky mouse t-shirts, playing music at practice, carefree attitude, etc... became the norm

Give me an example of ONE game where Matthews-Marner were seprated because team couldn't get offense going 5 on 5 under Dubas/Keefe regime. 1 game

Yea but even then, when you have a healthy lineup, you should be able to project where a guy goes because of his strengths. Kerfoot has solid passing and skating, but he does t work insanely well with nylander or Tavares. Trying him on the first line is a good option

Everyone had their knives out before the season started. This team was doomed before game one according to the sky is falling fanbase.
