With this effort, I really think we win any of the other series that have gone the distance.

Sucks we ran into a battle tested team. They blocked every shot possible without hesitation - something that a Championship team would do.

That’s not to exempt us from anything. We had our chance to send them home and couldn’t come through. TB got a few bounces. The officiating could be questioned too. It will be an interesting off-season to say the least.

He is the one I wonder about, especially with us spreading out the second and third line.

Not blaming, not complaining about his play, but he'd be the guy to move on from

If Nylander went out the door in a 1 for 1 quality deal it would be the quickest sacrifice. But what do they need on the ice? It's basically some kind of alpha swagger and you get into a lot of trouble trying to buy that non skill element.

10 chances to win a series in 5 years. 0-10.

3 total goals scored in the last 4 Game 7s.

0 goals from Matthews in a Game 7. Ever.

Entered the 3rd period trailing in the last 4 final elimination games.

What good players? When are they good?

Trade them all and see what happens.

Not even that mad tbh. This is the least made I've been about the last 4 years losing. This was always going the distance and when it does anything can happen. More pissed off about how bad the officiating was all series, and they capped it off with a disallowed goal tonight. Bettman gets his battle of Florida. Not sure where they go from here though, changes need to be made.

Well, problem for us is we can't actually stand pat and run it back. The cap pressures means some big pieces shake loose. I don't know what the answer is but there needs to be changes, but we can't do it emotionally.
I do wonder if it's worth inserting some youth and moving on from some of thr Kampf, Engvall, Blackwell and Kase's of the the world to see what guys like Robertson and Anderson can do playing every night.

D will be interesting given Sandin and Lilj both didn't play this series and need to next year IMO.

It looks like they built a 2000s Ottawa Senators, 2000-2010s San Jose Sharks. If they want to aspire for more the recipe will probably have to change quite a bit.
What can you change?
The big boys showed up in the series.
Campbell played better than Vas.
The defence is as good as any teams in the league.
Holl made mistakes, Kerfoot made mistakes..but so did players in TB.
The only thing that Dubas should do is get a better goalie coach and somehow have Keefe be more flexible with his PP plans.
Having said all that, as long as the refs are going to game management the game, it will be very difficult for the Leafs.
