Can't wait for someone clueless mouth breather in the media to start shouting that Nylander needs to be traded for 2 4th liners and a 6th dman

Nylander for 1st, 2nd, your best prospect and some redundant money.

I don’t have a hate boner for Willy, aside from where was he tonight, oh yeah, thinking of all of the 10/10 Swedish p***y he’s gonna slam this summer - but Matthews is Matthews, you’d get hosed in any Mitch deal (and he had a great series) and no one would take JT at 8, let alone 11.

We deserved to win, based on our play, but then... we deserved to win the Columbus series too.

We got screwed by the officials, taking away a goal tonight and gifting the 5-on-3 last night, but then... we got screwed by the officials against the Bruins too (and more generally over the past five years).

We got screwed by the scheduling, playing what should be a conference final opponent in the first round, but then... we played one of the worst teams in the league in Montreal last year and still lost.

The bottom line is that you have to figure out a way to overcome and win. They didn't. It is that simple. Even if it was a better effort, the 'demons' of years past were not absent. They didn't hurt us per se (at least, in the same sense as years past), but in the OT last game and for much of the 3rd tonight, they were still there. Heck, they essentially took Game 4 off, handing a freebie to Tampa.

No idea what is next for this team. This was -- on paper and based on regular season play -- arguably the second best team in the league behind Colorado. We're going to lose some important depth pieces due to cap limitations. Tavares is going to be another year older, Muzzin is going to be another year older. Matthews only two years out from FA. Our competitive window is closing quickly and I don't even know where to start to begin salvaging it.

Beyond that, I don't know if I want to watch next season. Another painful 82 games that mean nothing, because they can't get it done when it matters. Might well be time for some time away from the sport for me, but we'll see...

There really wasn't any chances if you look at it. They completely shut us down for the entire game. It's the same thing over and over again with these guys.

That was always their game plan for game 7's, trap, slow it down, minimize scoring chances for the opponent and take their chances on offense...they did that to the Isles to perfection...Leafs didn't adjust...this team is still too inexperience, and might be like the Capitals with many heartbreaks before winning it all...thing is, Leafs might play Tampa again next year in the first round. Very disappointing playoffs because we really had the chance to win it in game 6, and even tonight.

So, controversial question but do we let Nylander and Matthews walk? I don't see either of those guys staying unless we win something.
Really? If it comes down to it you trade both before losing them for nothing. This team would be nothing without Matthews though. He was pretty god in this series and Nylander was good in games 4-6,

Agreed
It's going to be a long 11.5 months,.
. How do you even trust them next year no matter how well they may play in the regular season. They had a record season this year and the same losers result in the playoffs

Sorry, but six years is enough. Need to change. Very sad but predictable loss tonight.

Marner is the bad luck guy, he needs to go.

Too soft for playoff hockey.

I've ragged on Marner alot, but he was by far the Leafs best forward and arguably their best player in this series. Matthews looked like a passenger most of the series, Nylander showed up for 2.5 games and was a ghost in the rest of them. Tavares was well Tavares... not great.

This core can NOT get it done when it needs to.

Whats the point of all that offence if they barely can produce during a key game?

I'm not saying blow it up, but blow it up.

Remind me what exactly Tampa’s core did tonight? It’s incredibly hard to score in game 7s, especially facing a team as good as the one we were. Our top line got us a goal. Could we have used more from them, yeah, but they still did their job. Matthews played 25 mins, 4 shots, many more attempts, 6 hits. He showed up to play and was good. We needed another line to chip in something tonight, which never came. Also, it’s whatever at this point I guess, but it would have been really great if the interference that created the Bolts 1st goal was called

Panel calling for changes on the ice (players not management) lol has he seen our cap situation? Core isn’t going anywhere. That means changes to plugs again. Yay. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
