He's genuinely a good guy and takes these losses hard. He's very likeable and I want to cheer for him, so there's no need to bash him over the head with it. But it's clear he's a big liability when he gets into a funk because it's so mental with him, he really gets down on himself.

Just be better Jack.

This is where Mrazek needs to step up...but he's also been very bad to average.

It's okay Jack, the defence failed you which is not proved by facts but still it's not your fault. It's the defence's fault.

Andersen was a trainwreck last season. Outplayed as a backup by Hutch isnt a great look.

Sure, a goalie with great career numbers and a single off year is definitely worse than a goalie with bad career numbers and one good season playing behind one of the best defensive teams in the NHL (that was still looking for an upgrade as they weren't confident).

Anyone looking at what Toronto and Carolina did in the offseason knew immediately which team made themselves better and which team made themselves worse.

Dubas knew too, but his hand was forced due to his cap bungling.

Normally I would expect to win the hard game and drop the easier ones. But this team's psychology has taken a big hit lately for no discernible reason. It's like Tavares' leading everyone off a cliff in terms of confidence or something.

Thought Tavares played extremely well tonight. Did not cheat the team for effort. He needs one to bounce off his ass and in to get him going again

Been on the MAF bandwagon for a couple of weeks now. Anyone else want on?

Cap doesnt work. And I dont think I want to spend anything till this team shows they can play tough hockey.

It would probably take 1st+ for MAF and then another ++ for retention to get another team involved; I am not sure Leafs should do this given this team hasn't shown they can brave the adversity and find a way.

With MAF there is no guarantee that Leafs win against Tampa or Florida

And yet his numbers were better than campbells have been for 2 months now…

I’m not saying this implying Andersen should’ve been brought back. I’m saying this to compare how bad both goaltenders were/are right now

I like Campbell and really hope he can turn it around. He looked so good for the early part of the season. I just want to see him do well and be happy again. :(

Also what happened to our defense? Not only did the same 4 guys in Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin and Holl look solid last season, but did the rest of our team play like this last year? I thought as a team they were better last year as well?

He either has a .847SV% and we lose in 5 or he had a .939SV% and we win in 6

there is no middle ground

this post couldn’t be more full of shit. Campbell is right, he should have stopped all those goals except for the Laine shot off the post. He looked frozen on each and every single one of those goals

I guess if you're going to get cold goaltending, better now than in the playoffs. I'm not saying what's going on out there isn't concerning; it really is, but it's not likely that Campbell has just kind of forgotten how to play goal. Odds are, he cleans a few things up and we're good to go again.

Team is a first round exit again this year with the goaltending we have. I hope dubas does nothing at the deadline, then they can all be fired and the next gm can retool the team.

I notice that that line never talks on the bench-just Tavares mumbling away.

It's like he has a black rain cloud following everywhere, hardly inspiring and rather depressing.

Hmm Panthers fans are blaming their goalie today despite the defence being worse then we played today, yet fans are blaming our defence here?
Maybe our goalie was actually terrible?

....he got beat clean 4x tonight on wristers. Even if you give him the two odd man rushes that third goal hits twine to open a period with a lead. It's a routine save, not even a dangerous shot.

It's cute to say "it's not about the Corsi" but my God make your eye test better. f***ing embarrassing that someone can't see the weak goals tonight.

Yep. Even with benefit of the doubt a bit on some of them, Campbell had a bad game by any way you look at it.

Someone else mentioned it in the thread, but he's been reminding me a bit of Andersen with having mentally some off games too often. Fortunately more than enough time for him to pull things together.

The "core four" have their flaws and I've been pretty vocal about my thoughts on them come playoff time.

However, management chose to stick with them. It's an approach that very well may pay off as its not a talent issue but one between the ears.

That said, we all know too well that they will not succeed with inconsistent goaltending that can be downright terrible. If you're going to stick with Matthews/Marner/Tavares/Nylander they need to go out and get a real #1 goalie with a proven track record.

You can't go all in on commitment with a group of guys and waste their prime years. They need to go all in on the roster as well.

Upgrade Campbell. Upgrade Holl. Upgrade Kerfeet. Sell the farm at this point but stop taking half measures. If you can't do that then it's time to move on from the "core four."
