Not gonna lie they probably deserved to win tonight but they are mentally off right now. Afraid to make a mistake instead of having the confidence to make a creative play.

1st line not included, they're flying out there

If they got a save from Campbell on one of the CBJs' goals, will probably be a different outcome.

Maybe if you want key saves, you don't base your entire franchise on a career borderline backup needing to play out of his mind, and a declining goalie who was clearly not right for our playstyle.

Mrazek and Campbell is a straight downgrade over Andersen and Campbell. How did you expect goaltending to improve this year?

Andersen was a trainwreck last season. Outplayed as a backup by Hutch isnt a great look.

f*** now we play Minnesota Washington and…. Detroit

That’s an auto loss to Detroit
An win against Minnesota
a High scoring loss against the capitals

Normally I would expect to win the hard game and drop the easier ones. But this team's psychology has taken a big hit lately for no discernible reason. It's like Tavares' leading everyone off a cliff in terms of confidence or something.

Jack Campbell in the last 13 games (turn of the calander):

8-3-1
.894SV%
3.26GAA

take it in: Freddy last year had an .895

I won’t even bring mrazek up cuz there isn’t a point to even talking about him

His job should have ended after last season.

He's absolutely in damage control mode at this point and he's going to mortgage the future, again, trying to make up for what he failed to do in the offseason.

It's not that he did nothing in the offseason, for me it's that he didn't even consider making a major move, doubling down on the same group after 4 years of embarrassing playoff runs

He was at the top of the circles. Goalies should be able to make that save. I'd be a lot more lenient if Campbell didn't let in that awful Boqvist goal.
Goalies can for sure. But when Matthews snipes them in, we don't say that goalie was trash, we say thank god we have one of the best shooters in the NHL. I don't disagree he needs to be better, but Laine is a hell of a shooter, and that was a great shot.

I believe in Jack. But yeah.. this is Andersen level of self implosion. Do well for a good part of the season and then have 2 months of pure awfulness.

But at least he's taking responsibility.

He's genuinely a good guy and takes these losses hard. He's very likeable and I want to cheer for him, so there's no need to bash him over the head with it. But it's clear he's a big liability when he gets into a funk because it's so mental with him, he really gets down on himself.

Just be better Jack.

I think they win Minnesota and give fans hope, then have a back breaking b2b losses against the other two

team can’t get anything going. We have 1 line, 2 pairings at best and half a goaltender split between our guys

Am I watching the same game? I don't give a f*** what the corsi charts say over a SSS. The Leafs gave up an egregious amount of odd man rushes all night and were outplayed handily in the first 30 minutes. They got what they deserved.
The Leafs deseved to win but Campbell stood in the way.
Any other fan base is blaming the goalie, but some fans here feel it's offensive to blame the goalie.

He always takes responsibility even when he played great. Anyway its just the regular season.

When a lot of mistakes are ending up in the back of your net, that tends to happen.

We can't make many defensive mistakes, and we certainly can't count on many big saves, if we want to win games right now. Fortunately, we have been good enough offensively and defensively to win even with sub .900 goaltending for half of the year.

I don't think they actually have mentally recovered from the stunning first round loss last year, collectively speaking.

....he got beat clean 4x tonight on wristers. Even if you give him the two odd man rushes that third goal hits twine to open a period with a lead. It's a routine save, not even a dangerous shot.

It's cute to say "it's not about the Corsi" but my God make your eye test better. f***ing embarrassing that someone can't see the weak goals tonight.

That's bullshit. They gave up nothing outside of the first goal that was dangerous.
Even the first one lyubushkin played it well taking away the pass leaving soup to play the shooter.
I know that none of the goals tonight were as stinky as the ones mrazek let in yesterday on caulfield and Hoffman especially, but at some point the goalie has gotta make a save. You see it on the other team almost every game. They get the routine saves and the extra ones too.
