not mad about the Game winner, the 2 he let in the third have to be stopped..... every capable NHL goalie would of saved those

I didn't see those 2 goals so can't comment; as I came home late from work.

Regardless the way this team is built is that it relies heavily on offense from the high AAV guys and hopes for a miracle from low AAV/bargain players including goalie.

That is not a plan that is a hail mary IMO.

This team is not good enough to compete for a stanley cup,
We all know that.
I worry that Dubas, thinking he may get fired, trades prospects and more picks to protect his job.
And mortgages the future.

His job should have ended after last season.

He's absolutely in damage control mode at this point and he's going to mortgage the future, again, trying to make up for what he failed to do in the offseason.

I really think the problem might be these players are too spoiled. They say it themselves. They get every perk and luxury money can buy. Primadonnas.

No matter what management group is in charge the stench of blue and white disease rears its ugly head.

Yes, Dubas gave them everything they asked for...UFA ain't that far away for them...MORE MONEY, YAY!!!

it’s not about out goaling. It’s about getting a God damn save. The last 3 goals were just bad, didn’t even fight the shots

Maybe if you want key saves, you don't base your entire franchise on a career borderline backup needing to play out of his mind, and a declining goalie who was clearly not right for our playstyle.

Mrazek and Campbell is a straight downgrade over Andersen and Campbell. How did you expect goaltending to improve this year?

Not really worth the effort to summarize thoughts from the game. They recently beat two high profile teams in Carolina and Pittsburgh with a good checklist of how to win and they've brought 3x randomly inconsistent efforts springing leaks everywhere since then vs St. Louis, Montreal and Columbus.

Not gonna lie they probably deserved to win tonight but they are mentally off right now. Afraid to make a mistake instead of having the confidence to make a creative play.

1st line not included, they're flying out there

.875 save percentage over those 7 games, and that included an excellent performance against PIT.

But yes, our defense is the reason we are losing games.

The Leaf defense and goaltending are playing scared of each other lately. No excuses because neither the group in front or the goalies in the net are earning each other's trust. But there you have it.

I feel like the original plan was a platoon of Campbell and Mrazek, which obviously was a disastrous mistake. At least Campbell held up his part of the bargain in a platoon scenerio, Mrazek isn't even backup worthy.
Marzak is beyond trash , woll has played better .

and the ahl depth we traded for yesterday has a 7.66gaa this season .

I do agree I think that was Dubas’s plan Well that plan backfired and they have an adapted or adjusted properly

Haha Florida is trash, they should blow it up, fire their GM, coach, start a rebuild
The Leafs are .500 hockey for February and this is 3 losses in a row. I’m thinking it’s more then just one game comparison to Florida

He thinks he has a contender

thinking is good; keeps your brain occupied. nobody is stopping anybody from thinking.

Taking a quote from a movie I ahd seen (can't remember which one)

The dude in the movie says: "I don't stop people from thinking, I stop them from doing"

we gotta hire that dude

Unfortunately, if this continues I could definitely see a Nylander+ for a goalie + D deal coming up. I know Dubas bet his career on the core, but he's got to be sweating seeing this.

Honestly I think you you gotta give Nylander a chance at C again. Maybe on the 3rd, just get him away from JT. Kampf-JT-Kase can be that grindy slow it down line that JT can work in.
Mik-Nylander-Kerf can play with speed and should be able to handle the other teams 3rd lines.

The second line is a liability more often then not which is unacceptable.

I thought we generated enough chances to win and played a much better team game, too bad our goalie has lost his mojo.

I didn't like seeing Dermott and the new dude paired together, just a disaster waiting to happen.
Reilly was bad. Pinched on the first goal, and then got caught, pinched on his penalty against.

Our two #37 and #38 are the least of our problems.

Nylander looked way better tonight, but I still think that Nylander would be better away from his two line mates.
