We put up 50 shots, dominate the whole game; Campbell puts in his worst performance of the year; they throw a couple hits; we lose our first game in weeks; "ohhh no the Leafs are in trouble come playoff time!" ... some people are wild man

True, absolutely Campbell was bad, but the saves he did make were far more difficult than anything Markstrom had to do tonight.

Campbell alone doesn't turn this into a win.
Incorrect. So incorrect it makes my head hurt

Campbell made maybe 1 good save the entire game.

markstrom made minimum 8

If we go out early again this year I hope our new gm asks jt and muzzin to waive, they are really bad lately.

For this team to go anywhere they need 4 significant roster changes...

1. A goalie that is reliably top 10 in the league, for an entire season and carries that play into the playoffs.

2. An upgrade for Jake Muzzin. You can't pay him 5.6 million for what he's giving you.

3. Justin Holl is just not good. He does not play in a true Cup contenders top 4. I don't can't how much of a discount he's on.

4. The 3rd line needs a scoring threat at center, that can move Kampf to the 4th line, where he can still be used in defensive matchups. We just need more out of that 3rd line.

It really doesn’t

Campbell and Holl showing why they spent so much time in the AHL. And still not sold on so much money being invested in soft forwards come playoff time.

Other than the Kerfoot tip, which wasn't really all that well placed, I honestly can't think of one hard save Markstrom had to make.

Campbell had to stop breakaways, multiple odd man rushes, etc.

Did we have ONE odd man rush this game?

I didn't watch the full game, but when I do I always leave feeling the leafs chances they give up are better than the ones the opposing team gives up. Sure the Leafs outshot Calgary, but leafs were giving up wide open odd man rushes and players were allowed to walk in on Jack all alone. Leafs on the other hand get wild fury of chances but it seems there is always a plethora of players crowding the net when it happens. Seems like the same problem the leafs always have since Keefe took over. When a team plays physical and protects their net...it seems the leafs begin to break down and let tons of odd man rushes through. I could be wrong though, I don't watch as much as I used too.

People need to stop equating shot count with playing well. Our shots were primarily crap, low danger chances.

Weak perimeter shots with no traffic will never win us games, especially in the playoffs.

Campbell was bad, but what he faced was much more difficult than anything Markstrom had to do tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Calgary Flames, 2022-02-10

The high danger chances were 8 to 7 for the maple leafs and the scoring chances were 23 to 16 for the Maple Leafs. Again, I ask what game you were watching.

The sole difference in this game is Campbell had a .800 save percentage and got beat shortside twice and got beat clean from a slapshot from the point.

We weren't really that bad; goaltending was the key difference for both teams. I'll take six wins in a row followed by a mediocre loss all day long.

Simple leafs lose because of Campbell. Leafs played 2 forward short 10, and still got 48 shots . If Campbell doesn’t get his game back trade him .

This one's on Jack, obviously. Couple things bounce a bit differently and Leafs win. No help from the officials, but what else is new?
On to Vancouver.

Might we have rallied without that third backbreaker that was a puck any NHL goaltender would save? Maybe.

But saying this game was good enough and blaming Campbell only is a cop out.
Stop it , 48 shots with 10 forwards. Campbell was off . He needs to sign or trade him

I mean sure, on paper the "high danger" chances were pretty even, but I can't remember a single save that Markstrom made that was particularly impressive.

We just weren't that dangerous, neither was Calgary, and Campbell was bad.

But to be a contender, you need to be BETTER than other teams. If you are proud of us being as good as them, but with worse goaltending, I hate to break it to you - that's BAD.

Matthews and Marner absolutely dominated tonight.
It's a travesty they didn't get a couple goals each and the Leafs lost.

It's also a joke the clear hit on the head wasn't called.
The league has a major credibility problem with its on ice officials, and another one with the off-ice officials.

Just a joke all around.

Zadorov wanted to do little more than hurt people tonight and succeeded at least once.

Also, goaltending was good and suspect at the same time. Not sure what to make of the defensive lapses at times, but also the poor goals.
