Ottawa has 5/6 points against the Hurricanes this year. Should they start panicking? How about the 6-0 loss to Columbus or the 7-3 loss to the Devils? ....the loss to the Canucks, the loss to the Kraken.....Built for the playoffs?

I think they are a great team and a cup favorite myself. Great teams are going to lose games though.

Goaltending is a bit of a worry I guess but I'm not that outraged when, in our only 3 regulation losses since Dec. 10th, we have outshot the opposition 132 - 70 , all on the road.

Agreed but you cannot ignore a trend that they lose when teams up the physicality level against them. See Minny, Jets, Rangers and Flames games. I liked the way they pushed back against Minny and the Jets but not so much in the other two. They did beat the Bruins and Lightning but that was a while ago. Teams start to turn up the intensity level around this time of the year. It is why I am hoping there is something on the line when we play Tampa, Boston and Florida. Those will be tune-ups to the playoffs.

He wasn't even looking at the net when he shot it, make the save

Wtf ... do you think matthews need to look the net to know exactly where he will shot? It the same thing with every good sniper.

It was the same area lindholm score the 4th goal and the shot was a better shot... so why mangiapane was weak but not lindholm?!?!

anyone else feel like Willy has been playing like shit the last little while?

No, I don't. He's still being a nuisance while stickchecking, skating smoothly through the neutral zone and gaining entry, setting up plays and pretty much doing everything but scoring, all while Tavares is, well, not contributing near as much as he should.

Also, I still don't understand how a bunch of you are blaming Sandin for the second goal (Hanifin's). Please, watch the video:

(I can't get that to play while embedded, so the link is: nhl.com/video/hanifin-doubles-flames-lead/t-330563150/c-10519827)

... and explain to me what the hell Liljegren is doing. Hanifin scores from the left circle, where Liljegren should be, but instead he spent the whole time chasing someone up past the faceoff dots and around where a winger should be??

With so many games among the top 4 the last month, it's going to be the key for playoff seeding.

Almost like having a mini playoffs early. Gonna be great.

Youre right that goal is 100% liljegren fault

I tell it after canes game, nylander just cheating all game long with no defensive work. He look like phil kessel when he was in toronto...

I gotta disagree. Looking at Nylander's last 10 games he has 1 goal and is a -10... he's better than this, playing way too lackadaisical imo.
When Marner and Matthews are shutdown, we need our depth to step up. good news is that we have plenty of time to figure this out. just my 2 cents.

I think you can make the case the 4th goal was soft, I didn't but you certainly could.

The only one that is truly on the defense is #2

its hockey basic, you cant let a player all alone and give him all the time of the world to take at shot from the slot. Its one of the 1st thing you learn defensivly in hockey.

You just need a very good shit and the puck will go in for sure.

The entire line + goalie got finessed. Flames executed the play perfectly. They won the draw, their D gets the drop off and it's game over. You can tell Sandin and Kerfoot had no idea what to do with themselves at that point, in fact Kerfoots controller just died entirely. Then Liljegrens man and Hanifin do a position swap for the nail in the coffin.

Good learning experience for the team as a whole. Have to give credit to the Flames here, it was a high IQ play that stumped the Leafs.

Campbell was just trash too. Very awkward positioning for a guy with no shooting lane. It's pretty obvious from his perspective he can cheat towards pass. Tavares is there to cut off/ slow down any attempt to crash the net.

As far as Sandin goes I agree. Him and Tavares got finessed the least.

The first goal is meh. You want your goalie to have that but it's from a dangerous spot. You expect your shooter to score, your tendy to save it. Shooter won.

2nd goal, where the f*** was the defence. Hanifin was WIDE open in front of the net, basically a 2 on 0 tap in.

3rd goal was bad, face to face with the d-man, no screen nothing. He needs to make that save.

4th goal garbage defence again. Holl/Muzzin are both on the puck carrier, no back checker, the right side (defensively) is left wide open, you give a shooter that much time and space he's gonna score. I'd like him to save that, but where the hell is the defence on that. Atrocious defending.

5th goal was garbage, he needs to have that.

2 garbage goals Soup needs to make a save on, I blame the defence more than Soup on the other 3. You can't give the opposition clean looks from those places on the ice. Ignore the 2 garbage goals, it's still a 3-2 Calgary win. Everyone needs to be better defensively and Soup needs to tighten his game up. Also 2 d-zone faceoff losses, 2 Calgary goals.

Like I said I think JT is great but he's starting to slow down quite a bit. Also Jt makes 11 mill, no second line center in the NHL gets paid that. I'm just following your logic.

Just making a point.

Not sure you will ever get it, but figured I would try.

Its not a matter of not getting it, I do get what you are saying, I just don't agree. Disagreeing and not getting it is where you seem to get confused.
