It was so f***ing obvious the refs were trying to bait a leaf player into doing a suspendable play via retaliation.

My god I hate NHL officiating so f***ing much.

Now that the pos Mrier has retired; Skilliter frog leaps into the #1 spot who should not be f***ing reffing Leaf games. But guess what... I guarantee you he is there in the 1st and 2nd Leaf game

I always feel like the officials in the NHL are trying to break up Simmonds fights and diffuse them before they happen. It’s like they’re looking after opposition players like protective mother hens from Wayne Train. Like a preconceived bias or something. Can’t put my finger on it.
I've noticed similar and just the way they diffuse situations like tonight seems odd in Leafs.

Would have been really easy (and correct) to call an extra hold on either Maroon or Foote before the misconduct, create a Powerplay situation for the team that has no chance coming back, and it greatly reduces the chance if something stupid happening.

Instead they botch the misconduct and have 2 more incidents in the final 90 seconds as a result

I think we’ve gotta call up Hutchinson now. There’s no way we can go back to Kallgren in the B2B this weekend.

Core wilted again when things got tense. Have anyone seen marner or tavares? That’s their mo in games that are intense i.e. playoffs. Wish we could unload lousy captain and his alternate marner, who is good only at regular season games which are not physical and not hostile. This is not a hot take: first round exit. Tampa and Boston would fight hard just to play Leafs and get a freebie 2nd round.

Four losses like tonight and Shanny, and Kyle will be gone. Tampa routed the Isles in game 5 last year and the Isles beat them in game 6 on the Island to force game #7. They will adjust. Winning game #1 will be huge.

Just curious for the dubas supporters, if the leafs lose in 4/5 games to Tampa, would You want a new GM?

No, he has improved the team each year he's been here and has shown he is willing to make changes if it is needed, and so far his drafting is trending very well. That is what I'd want out of the GM

He got to face the 8 seed two years in a row and his core that he " bet his career on" get worse every single playoffs.

Bottom line: betrer to lose 8-1 in a feisty game then to lose 3-1 in a nice, calm loss.

This team does well when motivated and some hatred for the opponent exists. I just pray Muzzin is back to form and able to play his game. He will be a big part of any revenge if they want it against T.B.

It looks like the team is eyeing what we all had seen. Goaltending that is reliant on Campbell being the best he can be, with no other plan. Along with a coach who can't win a coaching battle, as he is predictable and doesn't adjust in meaningful ways. Burning their prime window on obvious flaws is disappointing. Keefe isn't a playoff coach. We need to get through this interim phase and get someone competent. Losing a year to further solidify that message is a waste.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that the back to back cup champs would find a way out of their slump before playoffs started

You can't just flick a switch at this time of year. They've been playing well below par for a little while now, as per their head coach.

Depends on what he can convince Shanny the next adjustments should be. I think it would require a few significant changes to buy him another season.

Also, the one case where I wouldn't over react is if Vasi went god mode and singlehandedly won the series. Although I may question if they should have crashed the net every chance they have and get a few more players like that.

If capitals don't do well this year, could we acquire Wilson?

One of those nights. But two big concerns coming out of this one. I hope to god it was just a sloppy night but even when the game was still tied the Leafs were giving out two on ones like candy on Halloween. Make them earn it ffs

Second concern is them over thinking things facing Vasi. Hope he doesn’t get in their heads like Price. i was glad to see Mikey break the shut out.

This is such a loser mentality. We can't be owed any benefit of the doubt after laying a egg when 3-1 up vs the Habs. Now everything is rosey. It was good to see them get physical at least but these Keefe quotes are nauseating

To be fair, ripping his team publicly after a really long stretch of really good hockey, isn't the right move.

Especially coming right after a loss to your likely round 1 opponents.

They were slumping. There's also still time left to turn it up for them. And honestly, it IA easy enough to flick that switch for a veteran and accomplished team like Tampa. They know exactly what it takes to win.

He's definitely in their heads. And in their fields of vision too, given how big he is.

The number of perfect plays and passes they were looking for today was silly - somewhat ironic that it was just a simple, hard shot that beat him in the end.

I think veteran successful teams like Tampa can flip that switch, especially if they have the talent.

Nobody should expect them to roll over and struggle come playoff time.

The Leafs should learn that this is what they'll get in 2 weeks, so they need to be ready.

Specially the PK. I don't say burn the tape because they need to study this one hard to neuter that Lightning PP. Special teams will be a huge factor in that series. I would guess that whoever wins that battle wins the series. Both teams are pretty even 5 on 5.

If Kase gets healthy then there is no reason whatsoever we should be rolling such a weak 4th line.

IMO you could comfortably have a 4th line with Kampf-Kase on it when Kase is healthy and still adequately fill out the rest of the lineup.

And with how many NHL D this team has, there is absolutely no reason at all to force a Muzzin-Holl pairing with the amount of other options there is (if Muzz can ever get healthy).
