RE: your wrestling story in school.

Yup pretty motivating. Here is hoping 5th time is the charm in the post season for the Leafs. You got yours in the next tournament; Leafs are still waiting....

lol. Bottom line, if I am the Leafs I remind myself "these sobs are dirty, they played with the cap to win back to back, they are trying to make a mockery of who I am as a person"..

Go into the playoffs with pride and a one minded goal of revenge against a group that you have to view primarily as cowards.

Playoffs or winning in sports require a mindset that is best served by anymosity and disdain. If you go through the motions, you will lose. T.B just provided that in this game. Now focus on running their brand of garbage out of the league, just as the Habs did to the dirty Flyers in the 70s.

It's difficult when the league wants WWE, but, it is what it is. At least the Leafs didn't buckle. This shellacking would be a major motivator for anyone with pride. Let's see what the Leafs bring.

What did simmonds do to warrant a couple games suspension?

I always feel like the officials in the NHL are trying to break up Simmonds fights and diffuse them before they happen. It’s like they’re looking after opposition players like protective mother hens from Wayne Train. Like a preconceived bias or something. Can’t put my finger on it.

Well that was a hockey game.
The plus is that I have not seen this team start a brew haha in years.
Good to see the boys have some pride

Gotta think a ton of fines and suspensions come out of this one?

Simmonds is gonna get a couple games I'd imagine. Clifford a fine, Perry a fine. etc
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Parros uses this as an excuse to totally handcuff the Leafs going into the playoffs by giving both Simmons and Clifford Tie Domi level suspensions.

Pretty much. Tampa needed this game. We were doing this to Boston and we dominated Tampa last time.
Move on. The positive is we didn't let them run us physically over

Great game:

1) Awesome game by Holl, really regained his form
2) Kallgren was lights out
3) Special teams were out of this world!
4) Super impressed by the team defense
5) Great support from the forwards, picking up the slack while Matthews recovers

Just hope the team can mentally regroup from a game like this and not fall apart once the playoffs start against this team.

They will do exactly this to us in game one. Physical intimidation. Their team is stronger, grittier, and dirtier than ours. If we get roped into that style of game we won’t come out on top.
So what you're saying is the Leafs can't play playoff hockey?

Keefe: Losing to Carolina 4-1 was the turning point of our season due to the way we played.

Leafs suffer their worst defeat of the season to the team they'll be facing in Round 1 of the playoffs less than 2-weeks from now, played horribly, but it is meaningless?

Losing in the 7th game of the season (ironic, in its own right) was the most adversity his team faced all season per the HC. Now, they've been blown off the ice, 8-1 by Tampa.

I'd say the coach has a new rallying point for adversity.

Anyone who thinks this game meant nothing probably didn't see that snip of Keefe's pre-game speech. I guess they had a good 1st period like he wanted. Should've given same speech after each intermission.

Don’t know how to feel…I really don’t want to care given I don’t see this game meaning too much without Matthews and Campbell playing. BUT it should have been respectable, this was so ugly they it forces you to be atleast a bit concerned. My hope is that this will be used as motivation where they get angry and destroy Tampa in the playoffs in game 1 (likely opponent)

When you get humiliated and you have clowns like Foote grabbing you from behind as he did on Kerfoot, or Maroon doubling on Clifford, revenge HAS to be on the mind of any serious human.

This is a better outcome than a nice ,friendly game that you lose 3-2 and then get surprised in the playoffs. This game motivates any team with pride and ensures tbey are ready at puck drop. If not, big changes in the offseason will occir.

They had better be driving the crease and returning any abuse. The refs will be hearing from a FAR more hostile Leafs crowd in two weeks.

Call the game straight or more fans,.especially female fans, will abandon the game. The league will own this lack of ability to expand the game.

Overcoming adversity is fine but not when you’re going into the game ready to mail it in and basically created your own adversity. No honour in that but something they can rally around.

Core wilted again when things got tense. Have anyone seen marner or tavares? That’s their mo in games that are intense i.e. playoffs. Wish we could unload lousy captain and his alternate marner, who is good only at regular season games which are not physical and not hostile. This is not a hot take: first round exit. Tampa and Boston would fight hard just to play Leafs and get a freebie 2nd round.

Nah, I don't think Cliffy will be suspended for more than 4 games. Simmonds did nothing that is suspendable.
