Avs top line registered 21 shots (of their 49 total) and combined for 7 points while the Leafs only registered 27 shots on net as a team, although with Kerfoot elevated and scoring 1 and setting up Matthews twice the Leafs top line accounted for 6 points and 10 of the Leafs shots on net. Most of the rest of the team were passengers in this one however.

The 1 point in the standings goes to Jack Campbell, who was outstanding facing nearly 50 shots and was the reason this game even went to OT. His play this year being among the goaltending leaders has been consistent and impressive all season and he is earning himself a huge raise for next contract next season. He is the driving force behind Leafs season this year which would look much different without him playing at that level.

Decent game on the road against a great opponent while rusty and missing a few regulars. Can’t be too upset about walking away with 1 point.

JT was invisible, Willy didn’t play like his recent self but not too bad.

Campbell looked human at times, especially on that OT goal. Hard to fault a nearly 50 save performance.

Matthews got caught at the end of a long shift in OT and couldn’t dig deep to make the defensive play.

Ritchie with a stupid, stupid minor at the end of regulation to A) risked costing the game in regulation and B) gave the Avs momentum going into OT. Pretty much erased his good work through 55 minutes.

Thought Bunting, Kerfoot and the 4th line need some love here, they all played well.

Everyone who was not mentioned just met expectations.

Considering the Avs 3 best players are on one line while the Leafs spread the wealth with a passenger on each of their 1A and 1B lines, comparing our top line production to theirs is a fools errand. Even more so when you consider the Leafs second best player didn’t even play and Matthews had 2 passengers on the line.

Jack Campbell is legit but you don't me telling you. The goaltending problem in Toronto is finally solved.

If salary needs to be moved in order to pay Campbell who do you think it will be?

You always have to account for altitude out there. Every sport does. 1st period the teams were even, then fatigue played in. Lack of games so the team cardio was lacking.

Why didn’t they manage the players minutes better?
Next time we bring oxygen masks on the bench. They used to do that in the NFL, maybe they still do. I'm sure the Avalanche thought they sucked after we beat them 8-3 in our barn, At least we got a point in their's.

This entire road trip is going to be very telling and a good way to measure where our Leafs sit as there are some tough matchups on the schedule coming up, with various different obstacles to face. .

Yup. I just think it's important to validate the obstacles and not just the negatives

Jake Muzzin, in particular, has not been good this year. He's looked the worst we've seen him since he arrived in Toronto.

I agree whole heartedly. Muzzin is mailing it in. Its not a 1 or 2 game thing. He is done. Low level of compete most games. After this year I am finding him a new home, his contract will NOT age well. PLUS you an count on him getting hurt come playoff time. Body is breaking down.

well option 1 is probably mrazek. He is making 3.8 x 2. He is a legit 1 a goalie and has been for years. Won’t get much value for him. But can get out from that contract

option 2 is kerfoot. He makes 750’k after bonus. He has real value. Probably a 50pt player this year.

option 3 is Ritchie. Hope you can add him for free? If not. Small sweetner.

with sandin and Lilly taking roles. At least one of dermott/Holl are gone next year.

that’s 3.5 kerfoot. 3.8 mrazek. 2.5 Ritchie. 2 holl. That’s about 12 million that will probably be gone.

We need 1.3 for rielly. Probably 3.5 for jack and 2.2 for sandin/lilly. Hopefully kase gets 1 million raise.

even if they just waive Ritchie and replace kerfoot with an ELC. You can run back the same team with Campbell at 5 million and have 1.4 for a forward

They had 4 power plays that accounted for almost a quarter of their total shots. Of course their top players had their shots.

The shot clock would have been less lopsided if the officiating hadn’t been awful.

Dang that'd be huge.

I mean it’s possible if they have an embarrassing first round loss. They could. The most likely answer is a conservative route. Here is a copy of the team with Ritchie buried. Kerfoot and dermott gone. That leaves 1.4 for a winger.

we could get it up to 2.5 if Ritchie is dumped.

Mrazek, Ritchie, Kerfoot will be moved to pay Soup ahead of Marner. Marner is more likely to be moved if he and the Leafs shit the bed in the playoffs again IMO.
I think teams won't be lining up to take Mrazek or Ritchie off our hands. Kerfoot for picks would free up some cash.
