it's hard to believe Bergeron is 5 years older than Tavares and has dealt with more injury problems in his career, and he just had one of his best seasons ever. I wonder what Tavares will look like 5 years from now
Bergeron also has far more mileage than anyone not named Crosby. 3 finals plus all Team Canada games.

Majority of our penalties have been earned and obvious. Stop blaming the refs. We still need to learn the undercover dirty play teams get away with in the playoffs.

Maroon got called for less than Simmonds and learned his lesson. Stayed low key rest of game. Perry didn't even play physical today there no need for Simmonds to stir anything up when we're behind and need goals.

Low IQ game around. Mik Engvall etc are 3rd liners when Tampa plays well stop using them like they're core. Stack top 6 again and reunite mik kampf engvall for 3rd line duties

He'll look weird in a Houston Holograms jersey but you'll get used to it.

Momentum and home ice was overrated in nhl playoffs. ..momentum doesn't carry over

Leafs finally got burned on the PK earlier in the game. The 1.4 second Hedman goal was a bad bounce after a sloppy sequence and the Kampf to Brodie miscue on the 3-1 goal was also an early backbreaker.

The mini comeback attempt was a good sign. Vasi is still beatable and prone to mental lapses. That's huge. Otherwise, the Leafs didn't go away, stayed in it but didn't show enough desperation on the 6 on 4. Seemed to miss some Spezza comeback magic and Tavares was just dreadful with the puck control out there with the pressure on.

Tavares has been dreadful with puck control entire season.

I wonder what Cooper is going to do at home aginst Matthews-Marner line and who will play against Tavares line. This thing just gives me a headache

Nice comeback, kept playing even though we were down by 4, Even had me thinking i may see a miracle comeback. On to Tampa we knew this wasnt going to be easy.

also, they need to keep nylander off the boards on the PP or with 6 men out there, dude misses the net alot and 80% of the time its out the other side to kill our possesion in the zone, keep him in the bumper spot plz.

Bellmare

Really dumb penalty. Easy call for the refs
Bellemare went down easy on that to at least try to draw the call. But, Simmonds should have known from that point on they were going to make that call. That is on him.

The Lub call was a joke. The rest I think were soft but not unlegit.

Just seems we get called for things the other team does on a regular basis.

I saw at least 3 they let go on Tampa that we would for sure have been called for.

Leafs needs to play with more discipline and smarter...seems like corrupt officials aren't letting Leafs play a tough brand of hockey...these penalties let the game slip away.

Neither the best nor the worst case scenario after the first two games. Of course, it's essentially imperative that we return the favour and win (at least) one in their rink now.

First Clifford and now Simmonds taking terrible penalties. It has to be time for Spezza to draw into this lineup. Absolutely inexcusable play from Simmonds.
Did you really think either of them would have been called if he'd been wearing Black and Gold with a B on the front. Marginal calls at best.

So simmonds, our moafuccckin killa, took out perry, their best player no? Perry aint playing anymore in these games no? Perry , who accidintalty took out tavares last year. aaaight. I'm aaaight. Respect.

I think it's almost time MLSE had a hard chat with Tavares no matter what happens. At $11 million we could keep most of this band together, and I just don't really want to see 4-5 guys moved in and out to make him work for much longer.
Nylander may be the trade bait.

Players on the present roster who will be looking for new contracts are Jack Campbell, Timothy Liljegren, Rasmus Sandin, Mark Giordano, Ilya Lyubushkin, Jason Spezza, Colin Blackwell, Pierre Engvall, Ilya Mikheyev, and Ondrej Kase. Obviously, the team won’t be able to re-sign them all. Still, we’re sure they would like to sign as many of them as they can.

Having Nylander’s close to $7 million salary-cap hit off the books would go a long way to helping get as many of those players signed as possible.

One other long-term consideration is that Nylander’s contract has only two more years to run, which coincides with Matthews’ present deal expiring. While Matthews already makes just over $11.6 million, we feel it will take significantly more money to convince him to remain in Toronto.

It would be a tough conversation. It was the wrong moment to pick him up when they did even though I understood their objective. They tried to take a shortcut.

The team can still win this series with room to spare if they use their speed.and forecheck. Tampa isn't the same team as last year.

They are still great actors though.

I have never seen a more USELESS player with such a high caphit than Tavares

What a f***ing boat anchor. We could have done so much with that cap hit to load up the team with competent players

I don't even know what does he even do to get the minutes he gets. Kampf could take his minutes and have the same outcome. Seriously WTF

You're special.

I thought a good 1st up until Kerfoot penalty. Hard to catchup while trying to kill penalties - although the one shorty was nice. Ran out of time and no PP.
