scoring first is key to winning. tampa plays well defending a lead.

being topheavy only works when the top produces. matthews and marner are producing but JT and willie have been nonexistent.

i have a feeling mikheyev won't get a goal this series unless it's one of those breakaways on the PK. i hope i'm wrong.

simmonds needs to sit. i don't see perry taking dumb penalties and he can produce.

That's not really fair to Willy. He's actually been really good but hasn't had any puck luck. Tavares on the other hand has been abysmal.

Keefe's lines are bad. Not only did he change the lines after a win for some reason, he continues this experiment of splitting Nylander and Tavares, which has not worked.

He did that against Montreal as well.

If JT had a nasty edge I could overlook the slow skating and his lack of offensive contribution so far. But...

Playing him the final two minutes of the game is kind of a joke.

Guy can barely handle 40 seconds at times.

I think a guy like Kerfoot deserved to be out there, he got the 3rd goal and has been buzzing the first 2 games.

Due to this we can't keep shooting ourself in the foot. These penalties are unacceptable.

Leafs didn't have the hunger early and the refs were absurdly inconsistent and easily fooled (willingly fooled?).

Next game Leaf players should act like Tampa and drop to the ice after any boderline play.

Whether instructed by Cooper, raised by their mothers to be this way, or, it's their weak constitution, these aren't honourable men.

When a player is holding his face on the ice when being taken down at the side of the net by Simmonds or he goes down like he is shot from a jab by Bunting, it's clear the type of character they possess in order to draw penalties. The Leafs can't let them play them like this.

Whether cap circumventing or angling for penalties, there is a reason Tampa has a reputation.

Leafs need to demand fairness in officiating and drop to the ice after any after the whistle contact or away from the puck l!ight touches.

Let us then objectively compare the calls after such scenarios.play out.

I mean im happy they didnt just quit, they battled there at the end, just too many penalties, and a little bit of sloppy play, need to convert on the PP as well, and Jack needs to be air tight

The penalties Simmonds took were his fault alone. What makes it even worse is they were both after the whistle penalties.

I'm going to have to disagree, this is the playoffs. shit like this happens all the time with no calls.

Better defensive coverage, with better man-to-man coverage in our zone, more disciplined hockey taking fewer penalties were two areas that seemed to be severely lacking. A good PP and PK would also help.

Bad game, better team won. Still not the time for over reactions, it was one game. If this series continue on this path, then it's time to fume.

We have to clean our play. Simmonds costed us a game from 4th that shouldn't be even possible. We had momentum when it was 1-2, but...

On to the next. This is hell of a match up. Tormenting as always for Leafs fan. Agree on Tavares, but wouldn't shit on Sushi Bill too much.
