being topheavy only works when the top produces. matthews and marner are producing but JT and willie have been nonexistent.

i have a feeling mikheyev won't get a goal this series unless it's one of those breakaways on the PK. i hope i'm wrong.

simmonds needs to sit. i don't see perry taking dumb penalties and he can produce.

I thought we looked great then Tampa got a lucky first goal. After that, they just sat back and let us shoot ourselves in the foot over and over.

100% this. Looked like our feelings got hurt by the first goal... If Tampa handed us game 1, we returned the favour tonight.

Tavares is brutal. He's 3-4 steps behind on everything.

Playing him the final two minutes of the game is kind of a joke.

Guy can barely handle 40 seconds at times.

I don't get all the people complaining about Simmonds and Clifford. Do you want all that aggression concentrated on Marner and Mathews. Then you'll be crying why they got no points!

Simmonds took dumb penalties. The second one was straight-up stupid cause he already knew how the refs were calling it.

The first one was brutal too. Can't remember who he took down in front of the net but they were no where close enough to the puck to put it in.

5 on 5 Tampa has done pretty well keeping the Leafs to the outside and not giving enough quality looks; and when they do get them Vasy just makes the saves. Also Tampa just doesn't allow many quality looks to begin with.

Then it is about special teams and Tampa is getting HOT on the special teams at the wrong time for the Leafs; While Leafs neither score on PP or stop on PK.

If the trend continues Tampa takes this series sooner than most think. I just don't think Keefe has the kind of chess brain to make it work. He had the home ice and I don't thin he deployed or played the matching game well.

Also took way too long to put Engvall-Kerfoot-Nylander together. You gotta score first. If you score opposition will take risks and make mistakes.

This "laissez faire" coaching by Keefe shows me that he hasn't learned anything in the series against habs and cbj.

To be honest, when was the last time he was even visible in a good way? That one Washington game months ago is all I can remember.

Guy has looked cooked all season despite his points. Gotta hope he figures out some way besides faceoffs to be an offensive factor this series.

The penalties Simmonds took were his fault alone. What makes it even worse is they were both after the whistle penalties.

I'll see you guys Friday, going to be negative and annoying on here for a while.

It's not like losing to the 8th seed, we kept it competitive, the refs have to pick a lane, Tavares seriously needs to make a difference I'm sorry but someone getting paid that much needs to show up and change games, we have to keep our composure as a team, Spezza may dress next game.

We did well to not let them just roll over us. The last 10 minutes looked like we could come back and win.

I don't really have too many complaints about our game other than the 30th-50th minute marks where we Tampa shut us down quite well. I feel like we were better the rest of the game.

Other than that, I don't think there should have been a 7-to-4 PP differential in that game. First game was called evenly, but today Tampa got away with some clutch and grab that we got burned on. It was close enough of a game where it could have made a difference. Vasilevsky was also excellent (and a little bit lucky). He got some bounces that Campbell did not get today.

I think games like this showed why Keefe said before the series he wanted to reunite Willy and Tavares. Lines 2 and 3 currently just don’t provide any kind of offence.

That won’t work either. If keefe had balls he would run kase, kerfoot nylander as line two, leave mik kampf and engvall as line 3 and run tavares as 4C with extra pp minutes
