Refs set precedent calling Maroon penalty early. Tampa took note. Simmonds didn't. He cost us today stop defending him. Playoff grit doesn't mean playoff stupid.

I say bench him next game, but the game was over when he went to the box.

I'm torn. On one hand, Simmer and Clifford don't exactly deserve to draw back in and Spezza's leadership would be welcomed but on the other, if you don't have either of those 2 guys in, you'll have guys like Maroon and Perry running around taking cheap shots and running our goalie with no one to hold them accountable. We know the refs won't do it.

Another low IQ guy potential to burn us is Mikheyev. He's doing nothing out there it only looks like he is because he has legs. Last game could have cost us with dumb penalties. This game he wouldn't even crack Tampas top 9 the way he played yet he had second liner usage on our team.

Don't fall for high xGF% the xGF component is more telling. Didn't generate anything. Tavares is taking the blame for Mikheyev running around useless this game. Tavares is high IQ elite player put him back with Nylander and give them Bunting. Kerfoot looked fine on top line.

That's not really fair to Willy. He's actually been really good but hasn't had any puck luck. Tavares on the other hand has been abysmal.

willie had a good game 1. maybe he needs to be paired back with JT. both their linemates haven't been good either.

Good eye. His xGF% is sky high but the actual xGF is trash. It's only high because of the xGA

I am more upset with how we lost. Not that we lost. Perry's goal should never happen. Some of the penalties we took should never be taken against this powerhouse team.

That PP we had in the second period was abysmal. It looked like TB was on the PP. Not acceptable with the firepower we have.

We are playing TB. Two time back to back Stanley cup winners. Simmonds cannot be taking unnecessary penalties. TB learnt from last time. Maroon was all quiet this game. No silly business.

Yep. In that order. Selectively start throwing heavy forechecking hits on their defensemen. Sergachev is prone to brain farts so he’s a soft target. Not obvious who else you could engage with the size of their blueline and lack of heavies on our team but Hedman is there if you want a battle and McDonagh hasn’t been fresh all year. Bogosian is old and can break down physically but he’s a monster as we all know. Then just make life hell for Point, Stamkos and Kucherov. Point takes a licking to make plays, so give him a licking. Stamkos can be a playoff no show so just pound him into ineffectivess. Kucherov is a hothead who will start going a little ape shit when harassed. Makes more sense to punish them than run around trying to settle scores with Fat Maroon.
