Yeah, because that’s a thing in the highest level of professional hockey. In 2022

Well this league does not care about the health and safety of our players.

Teams will continue to player dirty against us as they have since we no longer fight back.

It’s been like this for like a decade.

Being professional is not gonna stop it

I’ve seen this movie more than enough times. There’s no benefit of the doubt for these Leafs. Either get it f***ing done in the games where there’s more on the line than simple two points or go the f*** home, which they will nice and early when they get bounced in round 1 again.

maybe when every single starting and backup goaltender in the league has goalied the leafs the leafs need to consider whether their offense is actually any good.

I think the organization needs to start throwing bombs at the NHL officiating. Lay the ground work so the biases are out in the open before the playoffs start. But then again with the way this team is unable to string together a consistently strong effort game to game I don’t think officiating is their only problem.

What can you honestly have to critique about their game tonight? 50 shots and no they weren't from the outside. They were almost all around Allen. They had more high danger chances than Montreal had shots period.

It obviously sucks to lose but the regular season does not matter one bit in the playoffs. We don't really have to worry about our spot. Your most likely opponents are Florida, Tampa, Boston or Carolina and they are all just as good as each other.

Look, this team is not a contender .
At least we can enjoy Matthews and Marner while they’re here cause there aint much else on this team.

There is nothing wrong with the effort. Not too many mistakes. Not too many things you can really complain about in terms of how the Leafs played or prepared. Maybe that 2nd period could have been better, but even then, that should not have lost us that game.

Allen played unreal (and was very lucky on some of his saves too), the refs were horrid again (not really a surprise, and complaining will likely just make it worse), and our goalie gave up a back breaking goal that cost us the game. Not the first time this has happened, and certainly won't be the last.

If we play like this every game, we win most of the time. We can't do anything about the refs, and it is unfortunate that there have been multiple instances now where they have directly influenced the game in the opponent's favour, but our goaltending needs to be better and I guess we need to find a way to get past guys like Allen... But it was just one of those days. It would be nice if we had one of these performances though... It has been a while since our goalie stole a game for us like this.

These high shot getting goalied games aren’t a statistical anomaly where if you replayed them 100 times you win the 99/100 yada yada. It’s a specific loss handed out as the result of a goalie effort in front of a defensive box out and a speed and sandpaper based forecheck which completely neutralizes any skill based advantage Toronto has up front. Happens every Montreal game, seems to happen more with Vancouver and in the past couple of Sabres and Coyotes games.

Something is not right in the head with this core.

It's clear to me they know how they have to play to win. It is a more defensive structure and positioning. To generate offence from that positioning it takes more work. This group seems insistent on trying to do things the easy way and are not willing to commit to doing things the right way.

I think from a skill and fit perspective the roster is built right. But from a, I guess you would call it mental makeup, it is really soft and unwilling to do what it takes (I mean the true core).

So, the playoff results for me will depend on which way they play (assuming league average goaltending).

Perfect first tonight. Pathetic second. Good third with an unfortunate play (that was avoidable imo).

this is why your organization can't just always be silent when your team gets f***ed over. Of course the same thing that happened against Arizona happened again, and it's not going to change. Officials must love calling Leaf games, because they know that the Leafs are the only team in the league that can be screwed over and just accept it

Leafs fans,

Not here to talk trash. You guys are trying to win now. We need futures. Take note of what Allen did tonight. This was NOT a fluke. He's been playing consistently like this for a while now -MAY have gotten his career back on track. Don't believe me? Next deadline if you're looking for a goalie take a closer look at the body of work over the last 2 years.

Oh well, not the worst.

Ruin the Habs tank, outshoot them 3:1. Shit happens.

i Agree with you. I am just interested in Matthews winning to Rocket.

Leafs in the first period were hitting and forechecking.

In the second on they played a timid game, little desire to get to the front of the net.

The Matthews decision to pull back to the blurline against a team that feasts on presusured turnovers cost them at least a point.

Shot totals aside, Leafs didn't deseeve a point anyways.

On to the big game tomorrow against the Panthers. We will see how ready this team is for playoff hockey.

First period was good, second period Habs coach adjusted it

He looks disinterested. It pains me to say it. It's games lke these that remind me he probably isn't alone.

I don't think he's disinterested. I think playing 1000 NHL games the way he has has worn him out, and the game has only gotten faster.

It's on our coaching now to realize that.
