For all those who kept saying Dubas needs to be gone, Keefe needs to be gone….let’s say if Leafs win the Cup this year, would you give credits to Dubas for assembling the team, and Keefe for coaching and getting the most out of the players. Or just give credits to whoever get the Conn Symthe and others who played really well, like Campbell playing like Hasek and Engvall going beast mode.

Is it that easy? Who did they play with? Wich D was out on the goals against.
If Tavares play better with Marner, then case closed. Thats what all has been saying. Matthews has succeded with worse players then Nylander. We need two working lines. But If it puttning Nylander on the third or forth line, is the best, so be it. Keefe do any thing, thank you. Tavares wont play better with whatever is left if it dont includes Marner.
At this moment, might even try the 33million line and see what Bunting-Kerfoot-Willie can do on the second line.

We're paying 18 million dollars for a liability of a second line

It's unacceptable and ridiculous that we've continued with it for so long. It's not working.
It is unthinkable but I agree with @Stephen that Tavares at 11 million per belongs down in the lineup. He's hit a wall and it's not one that you can run through. This one's 3 feet of solid steel.

Now, it's obvious we're not winning this division. A lot of the time I dislike the training camp feel to the roster with it always in flux. But, now I'm all for using the remaining games as a playoff training camp. Find out what works best and leave no option unexplored. I couldn't care less now where they finish. Home ice isn't going to help this current iteration. Look for the lightning in a bottle that can be unleashed in May that doesn't matter where it finished as it is not reflective of them for the entire season. There has to be a version of this team that is better than what we saw tonight. For sure, that includes Spezza and Simmonds in suits not sweaters the rest of the way.

This team needs Kase's spirit in the lineup. As a fan, I just feel better when he's part of the forward group. You know that guy is going to bring it every single shift. I can handle the losing when guys play like he does and they just get beat.

It's such a problem, though, who is a capable 2C with JT struggling? Knies can play it, can't he? I know that's beyond a moonshot thinking some kid can step into the Toronto market and play 2C, but who legitimately do we have who can? JT can't right now, or maybe ever again. So, who is in this organization who could carry the mantle? Kerfoot? Nope. Kampf as 2C? Nope. Spezza? Nope. Who, then? Abruzzese? He's probably another wish and a prayer option but wouldn't surprise me if they tried him there. Beggars can't be choosers. I think they've stuck with what is not working for so long because JT and Willy are two guys that belong there due to cap and ability level, both. What a laughing stock to have to move those high dollar players down but that is what needs to happen.

I don't know man. I am not smart as lot of you
But I know what's not working and who's not working

Kyle will be a great GM, But not the man for this team

His biggest mistake to this date, as I have pointed out 100 times, has been Keefe.
You can have one rookie, GM or the coach. But the fact that they are both first timer in their roles are baffling to me

Very likeable guy. LIke JFJ very likeable guy. Says the right things
But really doesn't have feel for the game. You can work hard doing the wrong things. he reminds me of that guy

In my opinion, his biggest mistake was not signing bridges like every other experienced NHL GM. It's even worse as the bridges would've come up at a great time - during the COVID cap freeze, and the resulting contracts wouldn't be any bigger than what they got anyways - just would've bought us a few more years at lower cost.

Jokes on you Leafs are not going to win the Cup

but if I had to fire one guy. It will be Keefe
He lost to a zamboni driver

Btw, there are lot of 'ifs' in your assumption

Credit should be given to Dubas. He tried. He gave every he could exhaust. But Keefe is Dubas's man. So he has to bare responsibility. He even gave him an extension for reasons I'll never know

If the Leafs win the Cup this year, I'd drive to Toronto and give Kyle a happy ending. I'd wear a t-shirt with his face on every day of the week until the next team is crowned.

On the flip side - if the Leafs lose in the 1st round again, will his fan club go a full week without being so personally offended when people are pointing out the obvious flaws in the decisions he's made over the past 3 years?

Well that’s something that neither one of us will ever have to worry about us winning the cup. we won’t even have to worry about winning a first round the second coming of Christ will be here long before that ever happens lol

Then he should become a scout. Since he's so good at it

Other than Sandin who has worked so far? I don't see anyone in the line up who's a home run
I mean we have Engvall who was drafted 2014
Not top 5? I mean Nylander is 7 ( Nonis should get credit for that )

Take look at the players before Dubas drafts. They are playing in the league
So far only Sandin and Robertson has played games with the Leafs
Durzi is another playing for LA

Andreas Jhonsson
Carter Verhaege
Pierre Engvall
WIlliam Nylander
Travis Dermott
Auston Matthews(obvious)
Marner(Obvious)
Adam Brooks
Grundstorm
Lilly

Lets not pretend like Dubas is hitting home runs after home runs. He's been here for 4 years now

Bruh how can you forget the nobody dubas traded for the great Malgin

Leafs lose - “Dubas needs to be fired. This team is losing in the first round”.

Leafs win- “The regular season doesn’t mean anything if we choke in the first round”.

Look, I’m disappointed too…but sometimes I feel like the majority of our fanbase is going to be upset regardless of the results. I’m more or less just over here waiting for Campbell to come back and hoping it’s in early season vezina form.

It means just ignore some of these fans.

I'm of the opinion that there should be enough credit to go around if this outcome were to come to fruition.

I hope the Leafs watch the Flames put a beat down on the Oilers tonight
Just watch the game

No let down. Even with 4 goals lead, they are hitting every player
No mercy, no prisoners

Tempo is high, the intensity is high, no let downs

Although we had a lot of SOG and Allen played well, it didn't feel like there was a lot of room out there, similar to how things will be in the playoffs. We're just not that good or comfortable in these games, which obviously doesn't bode well.

Some of the messages in this thread make me truly wonder how many people expected the team to win 82-0 this season. Calm down this game was meaningless. Stop crying these games happen u losers lol

We dominated them, but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

We will need better goaltending in the playoffs though. That's something we've all known for quite some time.
