a big part of our problem is the lack of offence from the blueline. 31st in the league in % of goals from defencemen. We can launch a million shots on net in a game and still get "goalied" because the goalie knows exactly where its coming from. I'd like to see Gio lead the way with some rips from the point and ffs get some bodies in front of the guy he's shooting it at.
They are coached to put mufffins toward the net in the hopes they'll get tipped. The problem is when no Leafs go to the front of the nest because "it's too har-ard" those muffins are easy saves.

The Leafs are a joke of a team. John Tavares is a worse captain than Phaneuf. At least that loser knew what his role was

To me, the clear issues with this team are pretty easy to spot.

Toronto has had a team save percentage of less than .900% twenty-five times out of their last thirty-nine games dating back to December 5th. Tonight was another example of Toronto clearly being the better team as a whole, but lost due to the opposition giving their team much better goaltending,

I'm not concerned about their offense, not concerned about their defense (even though I probably should), but am highly concerned that their goaltending could spell trouble if it continues down this path as it has for over 3 1/2 months now.

Kallgren is a rookie goaltender in his 4th game, not gonna point my finger at him. It's Mrazek and Campbell who have me extremely worried, as those two are the ones that have had this downward spiral of goaltending. Sometimes it's due to poor defensive coverage and giving the other team odd-man rushes, but more often it's either Campbell and Mrazek have given up a few soft goals a game on a regular basis for months now.

I tried to calm myself down to not overly react, which I do in the heat of the moment when games like this happen. I don't think any thing I've stated in this post is overreacting and is pretty spot on based on what's been happening.

If they continue down this path and receive goaltending like that against Tampa, Florida, Boston, then it'll probably be lights out pretty quickly.

As odd as it sounds, I'd rather they face Carolina than any other team in the first round. Anyway, it won't matter if their goaltending issues aren't resolved in time.

Leafs got extremely unlucky with the new playoff format. No one will acknowledge it, because it's easier to make fun of the Leafs. They play in a division where they can finish top 5 in the NHL and start on the road, because their division is the best in hockey.

One year the Leafs finished 4th in the NHL, their reward? Playing the 3rd overall Bruins in the first round.

The first round in the Atlantic is basically third round/SCF hockey for other teams.

If we got to play Edmonton or LA in the first 2 rounds, we wouldn't be worried about 1st round exits.

Sure, but when the NHL gave us an easy layup last year with a format that was heavily in our favour, we still fell flat on our faces.

Bottom line is, we still shouldn't be satisfied with a team that can barely get out of the first round against an easy opponent and lose in the second round anyways.

The goal is to win a cup, and our bar right now is way too low.

Anyone watching the game between Oilers and Flames?
It's that tempo that's missing with the Leafs

Not only these two teams are physical, atleast Flames are, they both just playing high octane hockey

We lost our captain in 10 minutes into Game 1 and still beat them more times the Western conference combined.

We're a good team, we just have to keep playing cup contenders in the 1st round.

After losing to Columbus and Montreal, I'd be extremely worried about Edmonton and LA.

Gotta beat the best to be the best. Stop with the excuses.

Looks like the blame is falling at the feet of the right person at least.

Maybe we can do Abruzzese/Kerfoot - Tavares - Blackwell as one line and Abruzzese/Kerfoot - Spezza - Nylander as the other. Won't happen tomorrow, but perhaps it should be the combos against Boston.

I am not sure I agree. Sure, Nylander hasn't been performing, but no one outside of the first and third lines has been.

Calling out Nylander specifically and letting the vets off the hook is lazy, spineless coaching. Man up Keefe and hold others accountable too.

You're saying the Leafs need the Flames tempo, or the Oilers?
