Ilya and Engvall had some great looks. Spezza created a couple nice chances. Rielly & Holl created solo efforts with good finishes.

I don't think we're as bad you say, but I sympathize with you.

You're certainly right - as with everyone on this board, I'm biased towards discussing the negatives lol.

I think our 2nd line is the one that tilts me the most. I've seen Kerfoot lob it into the goalie's crest, and the line seemingly never generating anything enough times. I suggested Engvall and Mikheyev with JT in another post. Matthews and Marner are so good together that it's really difficult for me to suggest splitting them up.

We took a lot of grade A scoring chances. We weren't taking muffins from the outside.

That dark blue area... That is where I think people want us to get the vast majority of our chances.

I don't think this graph tells even close to the whole story. But I definitely acknowledge that we had our fair share of shots from up close.

Getting a bit impatient with Tavares' ineptness on offense .. seems like he can't handle the puck smoothly anymore while he's moving his legs. So he slows down and ends up stick handling into a couple of defenders closing in on him.

Exactly, the bar is set low

Leafs got extremely unlucky with the new playoff format. No one will acknowledge it, because it's easier to make fun of the Leafs. They play in a division where they can finish top 5 in the NHL and start on the road, because their division is the best in hockey.

One year the Leafs finished 4th in the NHL, their reward? Playing the 3rd overall Bruins in the first round.

The first round in the Atlantic is basically third round/SCF hockey for other teams.

If we got to play Edmonton or LA in the first 2 rounds, we wouldn't be worried about 1st round exits.
