Leafs will win and dominate. If there is one team that has thrown the towel in, it's the jackets.

It's actually quite pathetic to watch.

Thanks for the GDT, ULF...

I feel that Columbus wants to lose more than we do, so we should win this one...

Marlies play a game at the same time tonight.. and Kapanen is back for this one.... :handclap:

Maple Leafs-Columbus Blue Jackets: Wednesday game preview

The Blue Jackets will be tired after having lost 5-2 Tuesday against the Islanders in Brooklyn.

By: Curtis Rush Sports reporter, Published on Tue Jan 12 2016

AIR CANADA CENTRE

Puck drop: 7 p.m.

TV: Sportsnet

Radio: Sportsnet 590 The Fan

Key matchup:James Reimer vs. Seth Jones.

The Leafs will rely on Reimer to provide a strong start in goal and bring stability to a team shaken by a 7-0 rout at the hands of the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. The Blue Jackets will be tired after having played Tuesday against the Islanders in Brooklyn. Columbus lost, 5-2. The Blue Jackets feature defenceman Jones, acquired in a big trade from Nashville Jan. 6 in exchange for centre Ryan Johansen. Jones made his Jackets’ debut Friday night in Carolina; the 2013 fourth overall pick posted a shot and two hits while logging 22:31 of ice time against the Hurricanes.

Columbus all-star:Brandon Saad was selected to participate in the NHL all-star game in Nashville Jan. 31. He becomes the seventh player in Blue Jackets’ history to earn that honour. The first-time all-star is tied for the team lead in scoring heading into Tuesday’s action, with 16 goals and 14 assists. From Dec. 17 to Jan. 2, he posted a career-best seven-game point streak, with six goals and five assists.

Streaking Hartnell: The Blue Jackets’ Scott Hartnell has 14 points in his last 17 games and had points in seven of his last 12 contests. He is tied for the team lead in scoring. He also led the Jackets in goals (six) and points (12) in the month of December.

Familiar face: The fortunes of David Clarkson have not improved since the Maple Leafs traded him to Columbus last season. Clarkson (upper body) had missed three games heading into Tuesday’s action and is out indefinitely. He has posted one goal and one assist in 18 games this season.

Up next: Friday, vs. Chicago Blackhawks, 7 p.m., TSN4.

I bet that Leivo either sticks, or is traded... Don't think he would clear waivers, unless he is the designated injury replacement for JVR... Hard to tell anymore, "who's in for who"....,
with Lou running the cat & mouse game, with the NHL.. LOL!

I'd like to see Leivo and Grabner together on a line..

Welcome back, Josh..! :yo: A little Rap mixed into this one, for you..

Komarov will be key AGAIN. The jackets don't have a great team, but they have some nasty players to begin with. We truly need komarov, he'll score, defend, hit and lead the most for us again. Just like our first liner always does. All - Star, franchise leafs player. All STAR PERIOD.

The worst team in the league and they played last night. A 5-2 loss to the Islanders.
Both goalie are hurt, they are using their 3rd stringer in Forsberg.
Leafs playing at home after 3 days off.
We should walk away with this one.

And after they got routed 7-0

Babcock is going to have this team ready to. Think they'll control the game and win.

You talk as if this team is in the top 10 of the league. This will be another close game. Toronto is not much better than Columbus.

Do you remember when the Leafs had Kessel and the gang and we'd go in and get crushed by teams like Carolina/Columbus/Buffalo etc.
None of those teams are top teams in the league. The Leafs were just not together so that's what happened.
We don't have to be a top 10 team in the league. Columbus is not good.
Both goalies injured.
Foligno out. Calvert out.
Jones learning a new system, Johanson gone.
Again, the team is upside down.

On a scale of 1 to last year's 2nd half Leafs...

They're not there, and probably won't be.

Last year was just the perfect **** storm. Everything had to go into it for it to be as bad as it was, and boy was it bad lol. All the collapses, all the of the clashes with media, all of the jersey tosses, the salute gate, getting dominated every game. Last seasons debacle was years in the making, and it was grand lol.

i think the point is - we're not good either. We've been sliding lately, being woefully outshot. We don't have to be a top 10 team and it should be a walk away - it easily could be a 2-1 "oh my god, both teams suck bananas" kind of game.

like.
Komarov is whatever he's doing, JVR's out, Lupul is a ghost..

(and for the record - Carolina/Buffalo crushing is generally has to do with the fact that those teams own us - good bad or inbetween ;) we could be legit cup contenders and I'd still expect those two to own us).

Can't argue that, it's true.
I fully expect the Leafs to take the Jackets tonight.
The goal to respectability isn't making the playoffs (because yes we aren't good enough) but rather the preparation and not have the past Leaf 5-6-7 game losing streaks.
The succesful job by Babcock this year will be to not let the losing go on to long.
Win one, lose one, win a few, lose a couple, win again.
