Thing is with 5 days before the next game a bunch more will be back.

Date put on protocols (return date in brackets):

17th: Tavares (26th), Kerfoot (27th), Spezza (27th), Simmonds (27th)

18th: Brodie, Campbell, Dermott
19th:
20th:
21st: Kampf, Mrazek, Mikheyev, Sandin
22nd:
23rd: Rielly
24th: Nylander
25th:
26th: Muzzin

So if we're looking at ~10days to clear then Campbell Brodie and Dermott should definitely be back next game and probably Kampf Mrazek Mikheyev and Sandin too. That's assuming that none of them got really sick.

But Rielly, Willy, and Muzzin will definitely miss a couple more games.

So a decent chance of seeing this next game. Asterisks are the most likely to not make it.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Kase
Engvall - Kampf* - Mikheyev*
Ritchie - Spezza - Simmonds

Brodie - Holl
Sandin* - Liljegren
Dermott - Biega

Campbell
Mrazek*

The thing is if they bring back Mitch I don't know how the team fits under the cap.

Maybe if Sandin's knee is still injured they can move him to ltir. And Lilly can be sent down. But that means they're out of the lineup.

Maybe they can send Liljegren down and then emergency re-call him. Not sure.

How many games has marner missed?
It has to be 10 games and 24 days, and he's only missed about 6 games so he can't come off LTIR.

With the new Covid relief they announced yesterday wouldn't the Leafs get cap relief for the players out with Covid(presumably Rielly,Nylander and Muzzin) or is cap relief not part of what they are doing with the new rules?

Yeah it's not cap relief. They're gonna have to make a real roster move i think.

I've seen those, but I don't consider them official NHL / CBA /NHLPA statements.
The extract below comes from MLHS's transcript of Dubas's media conference on Dec. 26th. It sounds to me that there has not been official confirmation yet that the postponed games will count, but it seems likely.

Was there any exception made with postponed games if there weren’t enough games missed for Mitch Marner to come off of LTIR?
Dubas
: It has been an ongoing discussion between Brandon Pridham and the league. I don’t think, in this case, anyone would look at it and say there was anything untoward done. I don’t think we have gained any massive advantage. We just happened to have the Calgary game postponed before we had any positive tests. We had our game in Vancouver postponed and because of the border stuff with Seattle. The whole league was postponed for tomorrow night. Of course, there was our St. Louis game wedged in there as well.
I don’t think we gained any advantage. I sure hope that if he is ready to come back on Wednesday or Saturday, I don’t imagine that would play into it. he has certainly missed the number of days required to be on LTIR, and the games were all on the schedule. If it was going to have to be the games played, you are going to have a lot of players in the league — because of the postponements — that are going to be healthy and not able to play.
I am hopeful that is the case with Mitch and would agree with that whether we had any players on LTIR or not. It certainly would be the right thing to do for any player in the league that is healthy and ready to come back. It is up to the team to make themselves cap compliant, which we would.

Yeah, to me sounds like many are making assumptions.
I want something that would stand up under scrutiny.

Makes sense that postponed games due to Covid would count towards games he’s missed.

For me it would make sense to count canceled games, but not postponed games.

If a game is canceled it reduces the total number of games available, so each missed game is a larger portion of the season as the total games per season are reduced.

Postponed games do not reduce the ratio of missed games to regular season games.

10 games out of 82 is different a quite a bit different than 10 games out of 56 games.

Maybe we won't see anything official, but a tweet from a reporter isn't an official announcement.

There are no offically cancelled games they are all considered postponed

It would make no sense to force healthy players to miss games in this case. This isn't what the 10 game minimum LTIR rule is for.
