I haven't seen it mentioned but how do you think a
Gio - Russian bear
shut down pairing would fare?
I’d definitely give it a run if there’s issues with mo-boosh Gio-TJ. At this point you want the guy to hit the ground running so giving him his partner for the better part of a decade would really help settle him in

Did he steal your gf in highschool or something? Why shit on everything the team you follow does? I mean they didn’t fluke into a top 6 pts%
Dinosaur Lou and worst coach in the world Babcock had this team 6th. Hardly an accomplishment. We've gone sideways for 3 years. All the while trading away draft picks like they're going out of fashion.

RD is much more reasonable because of the options it gives you if Muzzin sticks around, especially with Brodie able to slide onto the left if Muzz does move on and you're short LD

Left side is tough to commit long term at this point, Muzzin is uncertain and your strength is on the left.

Yeah, I do think we'll see a renovation of the blueline this offseason when there's the opportunity to rework the cap a little more. Ideally it's an RHD but I wouldn't say no to quality.

clue: the trade had to go down after 5pm est and the reason why everyone had to wait to hear the trade for sometime.
What does that have to do with your original point which was that they have no more room? They do. What you’re talking about actually helped them create more of that room too. They did not have to wait til 5 to complete the trade they waited til 5 to maximize the remaining space

This sounds like a guy that is going to take the Spezza route and stay here for cheap.

He'd be nice to keep next year as Sandin transitions from 3rd to 2nd pair.

Gio in and extended cheap means muzz might get forced out creating whatever that gap would be (4.5-5m) to bolster the rest of the team.
Holl & muzz out for futures Gio for 1m and extend the bear for Hakanpaa money. Top 6 next year
Rielly boosh
Gio Brodie
Sandin Liljegren

They didnt have to wait until 5 pm EST for the trade to go through. The Leafs dont have to be cap compliant for 24 hours following a trade between the hours of 5pm-5pm. They are allowed to exceed the cap during that time frame temporarily as long as they are cap compliant by 5pm the following day. By making the deal after 5pm, they have the freedom to exceed the cap before the players clear waivers or are claimed, meaning they have flexibility if they choose to make a deal before 2pm tomorrow.

Adding depth pieces like Gio and Blackwell have a what contenders always do at TDL.
Just need Campbell to play like he could and the team is pretty much set.
Let’s hope the top guys don’t choke in another playoffs. Bc this team when heathy is as good as anyone in the league.

Like it so far.

Don't give up any first round picks - check
Don't give away any top prospects - check

Isn't that what anyone could hope for? Well gone Dubas, seeing the prices the past week or so had me nervous. Not bad at all.
deadline isnt up yet, there is still time for Dubas to do both.

He's actively told teams for weeks that he's not interested in moving his 1st unless it's for a player with term.
The delay with the Gio announcement, combined with the arms race in the Atlantic, led me to believe maybe Kyle was forced to change his mind. I'm pleased he didn't, and that leaves him the opportunity to continue making splashes into tomorrow.
