That’s 6 men on the blue line. I’m definitely more bullish on Sandin and Liljegren than most around here and legit see them as key contributors for the next decade, but having them start the post season watching from the box is only going to benefit them & the team.

I am bullish on Sandin, uncertain about Lilly. Both will gain a great deal of knowledge being around and watching the six more experienced D Men play.

Both will probably rotate in and out of the lineup until Muzzin is healthy.

I think Lilly is our right shooting brodie replacement for the next decade. I really see him as a big piece of the puzzle

While I agree boosh isn’t exactly top 4 quality through and through he and risky have looked good and his mobility and defensive play really frees up Reilly and allows him to activate more in the neutral and offensive zones

I think if you move boosh down to the 3rd pairing with Sandin, this would still apply.

I'd also be firmly in favour of a larger upgrade to Holl. Even an equivalent swap of guys like Mayfield where you pick up cap space.

At this point, I think you have flexibility to move Giordano anywhere in the 6. I think he starts beside Morgan Rielly, but he has the familiarity with Brodie.

gio made an interesting point about getting into hockey late so hes not the typical 38 year old when it comes to hockey mileage

both guys seem super excited to get here.

Dermot/3rd for Blackwell seems like a pretty even swap.

Gio is probably worth a 2nd+. Add in retention and you’re pretty close to two 2nds.

Fair deal. Even better if both are worth resigning.

Gio moves the needle for our D. Gives us a big guy on every pairing when healthy and still a top 4 D by all metrics. Compliments the team well with strong net front and board play in the D zone and will have minimal risk of adjusting given prior history with Brodie.

Good hockey deal. Now let’s get another forward and send some prayers to the sky for Campbel!

More middle 6 guys gives them different combinations. Maybe they can find a mix that’s strong enough to allow JT & Willy to run their own lines making the kampf line the 4th.

I hate that we are currently going into the draft with a 1st and a 7th, and next year we are already without a 2nd in what already is being heralded as a deep draft.

Will see what Gio and Blackwell do, and will try to forget that our top prospect Knies was a 2nd round pick, since we aren't going to have one for another 2 years......

No doubt though that Gio is an upgrade on Dermott, and if Blackwell is heart on the sleeve buzzsaw of a player, we can definitely use some more of that......
