Hoping we can recover some picks tomorrow with some spare parts.

I hate that we are currently going into the draft with a 1st and a 7th, and next year we are already without a 2nd in what already is being heralded as a deep draft.

Will see what Gio and Blackwell do, and will try to forget that our top prospect Knies was a 2nd round pick, since we aren't going to have one for another 2 years......

No doubt though that Gio is an upgrade on Dermott, and if Blackwell is heart on the sleeve buzzsaw of a player, we can definitely use some more of that......

Cheers, and let's see what tomorrow brings.

Since a bunch of Leaf fans got mad I'll elaborate as to why I don't think this is a good trade. Yes, Gio is good, and Blackwell is a solid bottom six guy as well, but you're giving up multiple futures here for a 38 year old rental and a bottom 6 forward and not even addressing the glaring weakness in goal. If that doesn't get fixed Tampa or Florida will bounce the Leafs in Round 1. Then you're heading into the summer with another 1st round loss over you and nothing to show for those draft picks. No need to get mad. Perhaps Dubas will still acquire a goalie before the deadline, who knows. And yes you guys do overrate your players lol. Every fanbase does it but Toronto takes it to another level. It's been like that for years. I think it's a symptom of most Canadian sports networks devoting excessive amounts of time to Leaf coverage with Toronto being the biggest hockey market.
Leafs Have Campbell, he’s an allstar goalie . Campbell played last year in playoffs and was better then Price . Giordano will lift every player to a higher level, especially the D

Doesn't look like it, and even if he did, Holl is much better than him.

Why the Leafs would add another defenseman to this group is beyond me. Giordano was already a luxury add as it was.
I wouldn't be upset if they moved Holl for someone that stylistically would be a better fit beside Rielly (making similar money).

Keeping our prospect pool and young D'mem? heck yeah..

Here's a look at tampas draft picks the next few years..

Now here's florida's..

So Tampa has their first this year, then not until 2025, and no second for a few years
Florida no firsts until 2025, missing a few seconds.

Tampa has earned the right... back to back and still very good, not sure for how long though. If you seriously think the Leafs are "blowing up their program for rentals", Florida wants to really hope they are any good.

Here's the Leafs, for the record.

I don't think that player exists, and if he did, it would not be cheap.

Plus, Rielly-Holl have worked very well together in the limited time they have played together.

so basically since the start of the season:

OUT: Dermott, Ritchie, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd

IN: Lyubushkin, Gio (pending UFA), Blackwell (pending UFA)

If Leafs don't win a round at least then.... Under dubas the number of assets Leafs have thrown out the door just add up

What year is the third we got for Dermy?

Not sure where he fits next year with Rielly, Muzz and Sandin.
I’d suspect two of holl boosh and muzzin aren’t here next year.
If they can get a list from Jake of teams he’d go to and you can back fill that with Gio at a fraction of the cost that gives you money to get a real deal goalie or another forward

i think they made that trade already with boosh, over the past bunch of years rielly played his best hockey with hainsey , who was never considered a top pairing defenseman but played that safe stay at home style that boosh does. i think thats the pair going forward

Solid deal, what’s interesting to me is I don’t believe Dubas is done just yet. I think they are still gonna try and add someone for the top 6. Goalie situation is still iffy and that scares me, but let’s see if Satari doesn’t get claimed and can step in and be good

So in short:

- trade is good
- but Leafs have other weaknesses too
- other teams have no weaknesses

- therefore, bad trade

Two are RD though and none of the LD I mentioned are comfortable on the right.

I can't see Muzz going anywhere unless it's Robidas Island
