Well I'm going to say it now, congrats because that's a solid trade by Dubious that really changes the complexion of the team

I'm OK with the 3rd coming back for Derms, but what was he going to do with him really, waivers?

Reilly Giordano
Brodie Holl
Lube Sandin/Lilj

That seems to have some pretty good balance and when Muzzin comes back (if the real Muzzin comes back) then that might be the best Leafs D since 93. The upgraded D should make the goaltending that much better. Hopefully the addition of Blackwell sparks the forwards group into getting more involved physically.

I wonder if he's done and we move forward from here with this group

Leetch was fantastic with the Leafs. Like you said, the lockout stole an extra year of him from us.

This is how I see Gio. First is his leadership and defensive prowess. He isn't a big hitter, but, he blocks shots and leads by example with this sacrfice. Then the Leafs have his partner who he is most comfortable with and had his best years.

My only concern is his lack of playoff success throughout his career. If he truly wants to win this is his opportunity with a hungry core. We might also be able to get him to resign for a discount to retire at home which woukd be great in a cap world.

I'm not sure if Dubas can pull any more tricks, but I hope he tries to improve in any way possible, upgrade or otherwise.

Can the guy who put these guys on the ice not be held accountable?
Well of course, but first you have to ask yourself if the moves that person makes are reasoned and sound or not and what the reasoning for the lack of success comes from? Is it because the gm has made hairbrained moves like a first ++for risto? Or multiple picks for the corpse of a full price Duncan Keith? Or whatever it is Jim Benning was doing in Vancouver all those years? Or is it because of issues you see as correctable and attributed to on ice performance of the guys you’re tied to.
What realistic theoretical marner or even Nylander trade do you see where the leafs come out better?
Pretty much every time the leafs make a signing or a trade it’s pretty much seem as logical or reasoned and good business by the greater majority of hockey people out there (of course there are radicals waiving Pom poms just like there are those burning effigies)
This teams lack of success fall at the feet of the big dollar guys and the goaltending, not the gm or coach who have them on track for all kinds of team records

thats not even what we were talking about lol, its impossible to have a discussion with somebody that moves the goalposts so much.
Winning a few rounds would indicate this trade was a success and Kerfoot lived up to your hype, no?

We can't hang our hats on another 1st round exit and then say "but at least they played good"

If the lineup remains as it is today, I would like to see a playoff backend of:

Reilly Lyubushkin
Gio Brodie
Muzzin Holl

For a goalie? Or some picks to stockpile? Hmmm
He’s most likely going to be going the other way in a bigger deal we do due to his cap. Goalie or a forward. I’m not entirely sure what dubas is up to, but considering Ben chiarot got multiple firsts and we got a better defenceman AND a decent bottom 6 guy for 2 seconds and a third, I’d be ok with an overpayment for someone else.

I'm ok with trading kerfoot , depending on what it is we get back. I'd also be ok with keeping him for the playoffs.
