there's your problem right there

are there still people out there who watch that garbage and actually believe anything they say?
I do, before dinner if I can. Quick way to get caught up on the news.

Be careful what you say .. for me COVID there was no flu at all .. it was really just an issue of trying to breathe through my lungs .. like someone standing on my chest pressure and then trying to breathe .. good news it lasted 3-4 days then gone as fast as it came .. but 4 nights on an oxygen machine to fight through it .. would not wish it on anybody SCARY .. this new variant has a 3+ person pass through vs 1+ person pass through for delta so case counts will be at 10,000 per day in Ontario inside 2 weeks and then we will see what is does to our hospitals .. but sad to hear 2 shots protection past 90 days is basically useless .. getting my booster tomorrow before da sh*t hits da fan here in TO
Freaking 1,000 person 3 hour lineup at our pop up for boosters 5 minutes before it opened .. OMG this thing is bigger than I thought .. guy at front says well don't think we have enough shots for this crowd .. ridiculous bad planning .. people are sh*tting bricks already

I was watching cp24 today, some Dr. was on there saying the omicron strain is not milder and people should stop spreading that. I don't know, i'm just regurgitating what I heard. I'm guessing he knows more than most.
I think there's conflicting evidence, which is to be expected with an emergent disease.

Best case is that it is significantly less likely to cause hospital admissins among vaccinated persons -- the most recent South African study suggests about 30% less likely? -- but that's not exactly game-changing. It spreads like crazy and is in a completely different league than the flu.

It's just another form of COVID.

Beware.

I think there's no way the NHL goes to China this winter.
NHL is gonna be lucky to get games in to XMAS I think .. schools are gonna get shutdown again post XMAS .. da writing on da wall ... hopefully this new strain is more mild but now they are saying it is expected to pass to 4 people for every person infected .. and double dosing not protecting you from hospital or death .. a family guy like JT/Pietro now is not gonna go to china and get stuck there for up to 5 weeks not playing with no family .. would you do it? .. not me no way

I wouldn't go to China for any reason. If I worked for a company that said I had to go, I'd be quitting.

I'm not downplaying the severity of the situation, but that seems to contradict the recent reports from South Africa regarding the lethality of the Omicron variant.

Covid is a novel virus, but typically, viruses are supposed to become less lethal as they mutate and become more transmissible.

I guess time will tell.

30% effective against transmission

70% effective against hospitalization

This Covid thing has been all around the Leafs this year, they played vs the Islanders when they were going through their tough stretch with 7 players out due to Covid, they just played Chicago , who canceled their next two games because of Covid. Calgary is canceling their game Thursday night. Weren't the Leafs in Ottawa when Ottawa had their outbreak? It's like its stalking the Leafs... it's only a matter of time.... if the Leafs can go through this season with no serious outbreak, their training staff and Dr.'s deserve a MVP award....

I watched a video of one of the Dr.'s who discovered this latest strain and she said it's much more transmissible than any known strain but not nearly as lethal. If you have your vax you may no longer be immune but your body will know how to respond quicker/better than if you don't have your vax. It's all about your response. I've always wonder if Covid has been around for longer than 2 years and the people who are asymptomatic are just people who contracted the virus before and have a certain level of immunity? I think the original Covid-19 in 2019 is a variant of some other virus, we call it the first Covid-19 because its the first we know of but it didn't just appear out of thin air, it mutated from something.

NHL may have to reevaluate it's protocols and scheduling.

At this point suspect the Olympic participation isn't going to happen

The NHL has already stated if a player is tested positive in China and has to remain in China under quarantine, they will not get paid, the quarantine can be as long as 5 weeks. The IIHF has stated that there is a $5 million fund for players who miss time but $5 million for the type of players that are going over wont last long. I suspect you may be right. I'm surprised that the NHLPA didn't know this way in advance, this seems to be one of those OH BTW this trip may cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars.... we didn't mention this you you? ...Ooopsies....

By no means am I suggesting players wear masks or something rediculous, but maybe they should be advised not to spit on the ice. Swirl water in their mouths and spit it out. Sure it isn't the ideal situation for them but none of this is. Some of this maybe could be avoided. Even coaches you see them with masks down or under their noses. We all take precautions, so maybe they should as well.

We see it every year. In the past it was the flu, seemed every team would have it run through them (Pun intended). Where the average person doesn't get9 a case in a decade or more. This is no different really, contagions just seem to strike teams more than the average person.

It really seems unlikely that the NHL is going to the Olympics at this point. There's a good chance that entire Olympic nation teams don't go.

With covid going crazy again in Ontario, and how much everyone there overreacts about it, I think things might go pretty badly for the leafs the next few months. Like, Vancouver level canceled games and ridiculously tight schedule at the end of the season to make up for it

It's looking like Saturdays game will be good to go.
Team should be well rested and flying.
