That's good. Team needs a break.

Bad time for a break IMO. They only have one game between Dec 19 and 17 so after this week they'd get a long break anyway. And the last month of the season our schedule is very tough so if we have to play another game at that time, that would be less than ideal.

The NHL's rules are a little confusing. Or, at least, contradictory to what we've been told.

If the league is doesn't want the Flames playing because of the amount of guys missing, that's one thing. Although the Islanders had to play through when they were missing 10 players.

However, if we are deemed to have potential exposure to someone, we don't need to self-isolate if double vaccinated and without any symptoms. Uncertain why this doesn't apply to sports leagues and its players.

Calgary is the one game I’m nervous about this week, let’s destroy Edmonton and Vancouver please. All I ask for Christmas is to beat down these two teams, especially that Siberia city up in northern Alberta

If the games start getting postponed in the NHL significantly I wonder if they will go to Olympics. NHLPA just raised more concerns regarding the covid protocol for Beijing olympics about pay and quarantine etc...

They might as well delay the olympics for a year or so; not sure wtf they are accomplishing by having a global tournament amid a freakin' pandemic

I'd prefer to play as many games as possible now then have them all squished in at the end of the season.
Yeah this doesn't seem like a good thing.
Play Tuesday, come home and then fly back west again.
At some point they will have to make a special trip West to make this up as well.

One less game Marner misses though.

Is the game on the 16th offically postponed because on the main board it says games until the 16th postponed.

I expect the 16th to be postponed but I'm not sure it offically is yet

I'm all for NHL participation in the Olympics and look forward to seeing the best representing their countries. But the players need to scrap it for this year and pull out. Just way too much uncertainty surrounding it all, from traveling across the globe in the midst of a resurging pandemic as well as the serious time off one would be faced with if catching the virus while there.

The press release says "through December 16th"

If that actually happens, they can just postpone the game to the 17th since they'll be flying to Vancouver for the 18th anyways.

Yeah maybe, not sure. I imagine the Players would rather be home than to sit in a hotel for the week.

Why go back to Toronto for a day when you have Vancouver on the 18th and Seattle on the 19th.

You can't refuse to play those games.
