Thought we played sluggish tonight, seems like they have lost a pep in their step without the fans in the building, anyways its the Oilers so not surprising we won tonight.

On to a Colorado and a building full of fans.

About as boring a win as you could hope for.

Sure was. Good night for it from my POV, I had a bit of an anxiety attack and couldn't sit still so I played online blitz chess for the first two periods until I felt more stable LOL. I had the game on though so I was in tune with how boring it was.

Ugly wins still count for 2 points so I'm happy. We need to play better against Colorado though, we'll see.

Draisaitl is the least impressive looking superstar in the league. Eyes don't match the numbers.

I wouldn't make any judgements based on tonight, Drai is one of the best players in the game today.

Highly doubt it was the lack of fans. It's the fact we have only played 2 games in the past 21 days. We had terrible timing on passing and knowing where to be more than lack of effort/jump.

I work with a huge Oilers fan and he was telling me at the start of the season that the Leafs are screwed because they let Andersen go. Then went on to tell me that the Oilers goaltending is legit, and the Leafs made a huge mistake letting Hyman walk.

That guy is in shambles now and it's hilarious

Trust me that isn't an opinion formed tonight. I can see the numbers he produces. When I watch him play, he rarely actually impresses me.

Marner often has the puck against multiple players all around and on top of him and still make plays, while the other 99% of the league would have already lost the puck or not had it in the first place.

Maybe people could write down what they want Marner to do on top of all that he already does, so we can know if he ever reaches these lofty standards that you surely hold others players to.

I don't know what games you are watching. The Leafs have done a pretty good job shutting him down but he hasn't lucked his way into 421 points over the past 4.5 seasons

I never said anything about luck...and again I can read. I know how many points he has scored. Has nothing to do with what I said.

I am just curious to what games you are watching?

I see him being a dominate player all the time. Except against the Leafs

Solid W, but Marner’s play is concerning.
It’s not just Marner’s play but the effect he has on his line mates and the powerplay. Both have not looked good since his return. He tries to be too cute and lackadaisical with the puck. On the pp, the players defer to him instead of shooting. Very concerning.

It is crazy watching the NFL then watching a NHL game being played in Canada.

75k people with more tailgating into zero!

Somehow there has to be a middle ground.
I'd rather live in a country with a lower death rate by a magnitude of 3x, and in the States, it isn't the federal government that has to pay for you if you end up needing care in ICU.

He's the second highest paid winger in the league and he can't score 30 goals. He also doesn't look even close to being a top 50 player in the playoffs.

Either of those things would be a start. Winning puck battles is something 3rd liners put on their resume.

Draisaitl is the least impressive looking superstar in the league. Eyes don't match the numbers.

He can play a very simple game but gets things done in terms of production. Goes to the net in clean lines, distributes the puck quickly, rips them on net.

I think there are a lot of elements our big guns can learn to be more efficient and less “fancy” but there’s also a ton I dislike about Draisaitl. Bad body language, sullen attitude when things are going poorly, over exaggerated swagger when scoring. Can be so non committal on the back pressure. Throws out a lot of cheap little shots.

Agreed. Except it's not just the US that has taken a different approach. They have not fared well for a tonne of reasons.

Good win considering how sloppy it was. Ilya might have found a scoring touch which would be huge.

He is not a get you out of your seat every shift player but the zone entry he made early and the backhand pass to Koekkeok deserves to be finished. Game changes of Slater buries that ridiculous set up. His ability to possess and dish is remarkable.. he even tried shooting more tonight. Do they do expected goal stats in the NHL like they do for soccer?
