Who did the faceplant to stay onside? It's like he knew that was going to be a goal. I have never seen a harder attempt to stay onside. I guess Matty is buying that guy a few beer.

Great win by the team, but do others also feel rielly does a terrible job on the powerplay. He just passes way too slow, stick handles a bit too much. by doing so, he is not getting matthews those one timer.

Was thinking exactly the same thing watching the powerplay this evening. It seems like Reilly waits far too long before dishing, especially to his right, and it gives the defence a chance to cheat towards Matthews. You also see Matthews drifting in and then he has to stop because he hasn't received the puck yet.

That was my sons first ever Leafs game. We had a blast. The place went bonkers when Matthews got his 2 goals. Great atmosphere up in the 300s and we got down to ice level to watch warmups right on the glass. An amazing night.

Matthews is such a special player. That was my first time seeing him live in a few years and you can really see how much he’s grown as a player.

Boy its just always good on Saturday night with the Leafs vs Habs. Lots of respect to the Habs, they had not really a lot of business hanging around but they did, right to the end, back up goalie and all. For some reason it made me think of Grabovski terrorizing them back on some crappy teams, it's just always fun.

Auston didn't feel like losing tonight and took care of it early. It's ridiculous.

Edit: glad that GDT title got changed, no disrespect OP but lets show some class. Too much talk about the "Laffs" being disrespected while dealing the same stuff. Only one way to be better, rise above. Never going to win sinking to the lower level, you get beat with experience.

It's a thing. You do get it, we all get it, it's a thing. 50 in the first 50, its a nice simple thing. Doesn't change a thing, and any money he does that thing next season, and no more worries about this thing not being that thing.

Because 50 in 50 isn't the same thing as 50 in the first 50.. it's just two different things. Here's the important point. WHO. CARES. Revel in it, this is insane what we are seeing.

What if Matthews is hurt the first two games of the season, then scores 50 goals in his first 50 games, but it's game 52 for the Leafs....does that count? Or is it equally arbitrary?
