On to the next one against a surprisingly good team in Washington.

Woll gets the net. Matthews, doubtful.

Here's hoping for a better effort.

This morning reflecting on some of our issues this year, mainly the lack of scoring (first on the PP and then 5 on 5). It is still early in the season, so maybe they figure things out.

If they don't I much prefer they show the clear weakness of scoring in the system they will use in the playoffs NOW so it can be addressed instead of playing pond hockey for 3/4 of the year and scoring 10000 points only to switch to this system in the playoff and be unable to score.

The good news is we have like 60+ games and a TDL to go before these games really matter, so lots of time for issues to be addressed.

After a light skate last night they need at least a point against a hot team. Too bad it’s not the TNT Wednesday night game.

Even at full strength we might have one of the worst third lines in the league.

No money? No problem. In Toronto we use Dubasline. It has quick and easy advanced metrics tools to stretch your cap limits to the max and beyond.

On a serious note. No money no quality depth.

I think we need a bit of a line shakeup. I'd run the following tonight.

Knies Domi Marner
McMann Tavares Robertson
Steeves Holmberg Nylander
Lorentz Kampf Dewar.

or

Knies Tavares Marner
McMann Nylander Robertson
Steeves Domi/Holmberg Holmberg/Domi
Lorentz Kampf Dewar

If nothing else, to try something different, and get a spark going. It doesn't have to be anything noting TOI, just try something and get some guys going 5v5.

Also, is it any coincidence Domi and Nylander miss practice for maintenance and then both have their worst games of the season? I know, this is the NHL no excuses but if they are banged up to the point they are that bad, they should sit.

They probably can't dress a full lineup if they do sit right now due to the cap, so they are playing through it

I like that second configuration much more, mostly because we don’t have nylander playing with plumbers.

Marner-Domi isn’t working, they can barely generate anything. I would even try swapping mcmann and domi and try to get Robertson and domi going.

I’d go
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Robertson - Domi - Nylander
Steeves - Holmberg - McMann
Lorentz - Kampf - Dewar
