Not sure what your numbers are telling you about our defence because other than Rielly and Brodie, we need an upgrade or two. Muzzin is the only dman with any snarl. He needs somebody that plays with some bite (see Bogozian last year). But hey go ahead and believe our goalie is the only problem 5vs5.

I actually agree I'd like to see another big body on the back end but, yea, Campbell was as big an issue as any the last 3 games of the playoffs.

I think a defensive depth add is the main thing Leafs are going to do at the deadline. How big an add is up for debate. The Leafs are pretty thin after the top 7 and were somewhat expose once Muzzin went down with injury in both playoffs.

Not saying the 2nd line hasnt been an issue but +/- is notoriously affected by poor 5v5 goaltending.

Campbell oddly & coincidentally only seems to be struggling when the Tavares line is out on the ice, as most of the goals against are coming against Leafs 2nd line.

The Leafs 1st and 3rd lines don't seem to be affected by poor 5v5 goaltending as they're all positive +/- players on the same team, against the same opponents, and same goalie in net. :wg:

Perhaps Campbell isn't the biggest issue, and the players in front of him are carrying some of this responsibility as well, because Mrazek was in net for 4 of those 8 last games.

Looking forward to a relatively easy win in this one.
In our last 10 games vs. the Nucks, the home team has won every single time (6 in Toronto, 4 in Van). Going back further, in our last 24 vs. Van, the home team has won 22 times. We almost never have easy wins in Vancouver … and almost never win in Vancouver, period.

I’ll be going to the game, rocking my Matthews jersey, hopefully we buck the trend tonight. But assuming it’ll be an easy win is completely ignoring history.

The Tavares line has certainly been the worst defensively and has the highest goals against but the whole team outside the crazy underrated 3rd line has felt it pretty hard.

Since January 1st (and ranking out of 47 goalies with at least 200 5v5 minutes)

Expected Goals against:
Mrazek: 23rd fewest out of 47
Campbell: 10th fewest out of 47

Shots Against:
Mrazek: 8th fewest out of 47
Campbell: 10th fewest out of 47

High Danger Shots Against:
Mrazek: 20th fewest out of 47
Campbell: 9th fewest out of 47

Save%:
Mrazek: .905 (31st out of 47)
Campbell: .867 (Tied for 45th out of 47)

GSAA/60: (Goals saved above average)
Mrazek: -0.22 (31st out of 47)
Campbell: -1.27 (45th out of 47)

Mrazek has been up and down this calendar year but Campbell has atrocious numbers despite being in the top ten for good defensive play in front of him.

My cousins from Vancouver are staying with me for a week or so right now, so we'll all be watching this. Please just win, hoping we start Mrazek. Soup needs to get his shit together like asap. I don't wanna hear their stupid chirps the entire night.
Hopefully if the Leafs win they don't riot and destroy anything in your house. Can never be too sure with nucks fans

Kase should just retire before he really gets hurt like him as a player but ITseems like every game he’s going to the bench hurt

The Tavares line really needs to get their game together against a .500 team that shouldn't be taken for granted, the Leafs will need some offense out of them tonight for sure.

The Canucks have trouble scoring but they can keep the puck out of their own net on a fairly proficient basis. Gabby has got them playing in a lot more disciplined manner since taking over. This isn't going to be a lay-up for the Leafs!

Nonsense. Look at where the shots came from that went in. All on the outside an NHL goalie should easily save.

That is a huge loss for Vancouver being without their best Dman.

I think our Leafs should win this one comfortably, or at least just win.

Because living among the enemy here in BC, its unbearable when the Leafs lose, as I never hear the end of it.

..and yet we often find ways to lose against poorer teams... ok, that's not really true, but it sure seems like it at times. Hopefully someone other than Marner and Matthews can put some goals on the board tonight. It would be great if everyone could get going at the same time, though I'd happily wait for round one for that.

Favorite game of the year.... Vancouver playing at 4:00

When they bring in the money the Leafs do, then they can have their 10:00 EST start time.

The Leafs are out there earning with three hands and it’s still not enough to satisfy these **********.

Was really bad playing Calgary without having at the very least, Wayne Simmonds to help out. Was a great reminder of what playoffs look like. Need grit on the blueline and toughness up in the top 9. We'll get a good look at a guy like Luke Schenn tonight. Need to add a guy that brings what Ritchie was supposed to. Ritchie is just way too slow for this team. If Crouse can be had I'd be all for that. Or a guy like Scott Laughton. We're going to get run right out of another 1st round over the course of 7 games the way we currently are imo
i find it hard to believe Schenn is faster than anybody in the NHL. People complain about JT's skating, christ he'd lap Schenn around the ice.

Sandin has some snarl. More than anyone outside Muzzin.

Not sure if Canuck fans are full of it,, but they have high praise for Schenn this year playing with Hughes. Maybe he could help Sandin or Lily.
